GTI Out, E-Golf in.

The 2021 R is moving to the Mark8. It shouldn't be incremental, but so far the rumors in regards to power all point to it being the same motor and maybe a 5hp bump.

Ya know the 2.slow crank and block could do 800hp, make it a 1.8T and the forged crank was capable of 250hp per pot.

VW builds some stout blocks and rotating assemblies.

The R will always be detuned from the Audi offering, and the Porsche version if there is one.

I wouldn't try to run 800hp out of the stock Golf R block.

I mean you could, and it would be a wild ride for that very short time. It's a great engine, and I'm a fan, but let's not get crazy here.

The stock R engine can handle about 500 crank before she's beyond safety and will inevitably explode.

Skid plate from a Passat/Alltrack installed. Now the plastic oil pan has some protection.
