intermittent mouse

Recently my system has been flakey as hell. USB constantly going in and out. Keyboard/mouse stopping then restarting. Infuriating. In hindsight, the fact that it turned into just the mouse when I shuffled some USB ports around should have been a hint.

Seemed to happen around the time I did a big app/windows update so I chalked it up to either
1) Windows update screwing around with the USB polling rates, etc, I'd read about
2) Corsair ICue (have had issues in the past) or Giagbyte GCC update I'd done
3) Gigabyte tool may have updated system bios

changes some of the USB power settings... nothing. Turned down the mouse polling rates, nothing. uninstalled icue, updated gcc further, installed the latest system bios and reconfigured it, still flakey.

So,.. eliminate hardware problems? Swapped out my Logitech G9X mouse for a elcheapo shit HP mouse that was free with my wife's new computer... problem went away.

So, it's looking like the mouse hardware, and now that I know what to look for finding videos on wires breaking on logitech mice. Guess taking it apart and soldering it back together is my next step.

Or I just buy a new mouse, but I'm stubborn.

Ya logitech mice on wireless usb are flakey. I use a cheapo one for desktop and the logitech gaming one only for gaming as its screeches through the speakers. Maybe try latest chipset drivers?

Well, in this case it's a wired mouse. Indications are that the power or ground line broke and as you move the mouse lose power then get it back... windows removes the device then puts it back when power resumes. Sometimes everything is fine... other times it's nonstop.
