It's 2018 and still no 4k monitor with 120hz or 144hz support?

Are people actually looking to play games at 4k at 144fps+? It just seems absurd. I'm all for future-proof, but even that seems nuts. I can't even find a decent monitor that is 32"+ with GSYNC at 60Hz...

For pro gaming for those that run the lowest graphics settings 144Hz 4K display would be ideal. Most pro gamers especially those in the FPS genre will flock to this like Chuck responding to a plenty of fish conversation. CS:GO at 144Hz+4K+Gsync with the settings set too the lowest would be the smoothest gameplay ever.

For those of us who enjoy our graphics we'd need to be running SLI to TRI-SLI to get this running but we all know how that would go.

Peeps need to remember that these are not 144Hz+ true. The displays are 120Hz overclockable to 144Hz. Even at 120Hz you'd better be using a nice active cable.

No one will play CS at 4K. Most pro players are still playing at 1024x768 with black bars. Things are too small at that resolution.

waiting for NVidia bfgd or a 55 to 65 hdmi 2.1 with vrr monitor or maybe a tv will have to see the specs next year

as for 4k 144Hz or 120Hz yes, at 40 inch 4k/60 now and want more

but with G-sync or VRR or Freesync I will take what over 60fps I can get with one volta 1180 ti or amd navi

just want a larger playable G-sync or Freesync zone would be nice to be playable between say 45 to 100 fps

if NVidia supports HDMI 2.1 with VRR I will jump on that as it will work with AMD also

I do it all the time when I'm ****ing demo up and he doesn't know it.

Nvidia will probably never support HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.5 as they would either:

A.) Have to get rid of G-Sync and support a free standard.

B.) Find a way to disable or force variable refresh rate to off within the G-Sync chip.

at this point G-Sync is a dead horse and they know it
but they will beat that dead horse till it costs them sales or no one wants to make them for them

just like all the the proprietary crap in the past the they have abandoned like chipsets and no sli on intel mb or 3d vision

since I use both I am more likely to go HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.5 and use it on AMD and wait for nv to give up

Would you guys rather have a 16:10 at 144hz 1080P or an ultrawide at 75hz and freesync? There is a killer deal on a lg 29" ultrawide 2560x1080 and I am getting an itchy trigger finger.

21:9 for me but not at 29"... That's too small. How big is the 16:10

If so then 16:9 looks like you lost an eye while looking out of a bunker

I have no problem with 16:9 if it is 40 inch or bigger

my Seiki Pro SM40UNP 40-inch 4K has held up very well didn't expect it to last 3 years

still want to see the 65 inch nvidia bfgd's but dread the price

Product Page is up for the Asus model. It is 10bit 4:4:4 but it will only work over the Display Port 1.4 port and not the HDMI 2.0B. The HDMI port will be limited to 60Hz only. No surprise there.

I'd like to know if the 144Hz is a guarantee'd overclock or we see a lot of units with the occasional drop out.

If you intend to get this monitor I would suggest this cable if it doesn't come with one:

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX71986

Otherwise the Monoprice and Primecables DP cable will not work with anything over 60Hz according to their pages.

Seems like the asus monitor has a bunch of dumb excellent rgb features on the back.

So from Linus's video the negative impacts are as follows:

1.) You require a Display Port HBR3 cable no matter what.

2.) HDMI is limited to 4K/60FPS which we already knew.

3.) You sacrifice Chroma Subsampling when enabling 144Hz. This means that it drops back to 4:2:0 which is the worst form of of CSS there is. This is actually a huge negative towards the display. More then likely if you run it at 120Hz it will probably stay at 4:4:4 and with HDR 10 would look awesome.

4.) He had haloing due to LED array which is annoying.

5.) Backlight bleed was apparent on the display.

6.) RGB overload...

7.) 99% of games don't support HDR.

8.) The fact that you have to enable and disable HDR through the Windows Display options will get annoyting....

9.) Its only 27"....

10.) If you were an early adopter of the Pascal, you will require a new bios to support the display???

Now is it worth the $2600 price tag??? **** no, maybe $700 - $800. The fact that we don't even have hardware to run such a display and the fact that we have to sacrifice Chroma Subsampling to achieve 144Hz...

He said it wasn't final Hardware and the final drivers ( lol can't recall the last time I installed monitor drivers ) we may get something a little different.
