OK, anyone w/ any sense at all knows that the house pretty much winning all the time is just part of casino gaming, but apparently the odds are a bit worse at this casino. I guess if you win big at a table game they have some muscular gentlemen there in warmup suits, jewelry and dark glasses inviting you into a backroom to discuss the "misunderstanding".

But surely for an actual win, the money would be displayed clearly on the screen instead of just jumbled numbers? I'm on the casino's side on this one for the time being. Especially since the slot machine is being examined.

Isn't this the risk of the business? The casino should pay out. Those are the rules of the game. The machine says she won, she won. There is still an element of risk for the casino, and they shouldn't be allowed to shirk it.

I think the right thing is being done, ie. let the division of gaming figure out what the hell happened. Like it says, she could still wind up getting some money. There's no way in hell though that she deserves 42 million if that's what the machine said. Slot jackpots aren't even on the same planet as that figure.

There's no risk in casinos, it's ridiculously biased in their favor.

The games are not a problem for casinos, it's keeping schmucks around to come back for more punishment that's the real rub. That's why so many places offer discounts/deals/weekends for repeat customers. It's to get you on the floor and burn your money.

There have been 18 and 3.5 million dollar wins in penny slots.
Casino should pay out or shut the doors.

Sure there are. Of course it isn't a penny slot and it takes $3.00 a pull. Plus, they pay it out in installments, so they can at least collect the interest off the money you won before they hand it over. Most big jackpots are on progressive machines. I imagine it was $4,200.00 or it could have been 42,000 pennies won. Sometimes they give you coin amount, not dollar amount. I cannot see many penny machines, progressive or not, kicking that kind of jackpot out. Could be though.

At least they didn't beat her with a baseball bat and shove her in a shallow hole out in BFE.

Bet they wish they had... :bleh:

That's the point.

Apparently though, the risk of a machine "messing up" is real, and in that case, the casino should have to eat it. It's their business to steal the odds. They should be held accountable for when the odds aren't in their favor. What are the odds of the machine malfunctioning? If the machine says she won, she won. That's the risk they take in relying on these machines.

I could see $420,000 if it was awarding the 42 million as "pennies" instead of whole dollars. That would sound appropriate for a penny slot machine. If it's a $3 pull then I'd say $42mil sounds appropriate. Either way though if the machine "broke" and awarded that much money, don't they insure their machines?

Not quite sure on where the responsibilities lie. Some casinos, convenience stores, bars basically rent their machines. So, if the casino comes clean and pays off, they may have a claim against the manufcturer of the machine. Not too sure how all that works on either owning or renting.

Did anybody watch the clip?

Did anyone wonder why there was a reporter live at a billboard????

Seriously. Why is there no ****ing outcry about this stupid ****?

The casino gave her a room for the night, bought her breakfast and gave her $23 dollars, the amount she says she had put into the machine.

would not have accepted any of that :nope:
