Locking Threads

Was wondering why the following thread I created was locked?

Locked Thread

It does not violate any forum rules that I am aware of.

Someone in the thread mentioned it was similar to another thread but the two threads are very different, as one discusses a specific person, the other is about pics for all people, male and female.

At any rate, I'm confused and would like to know what I did wrong so I don't waste time creating threads in the future.

Thanks,

V

hmm so this happened in 2012, the same year I joined... I didn't read all the pages of the thread and didn't find a specific answer?

If you did a "beautiful people" search on Google Image couldn't we just use that as a benchmark for what is acceptable?

So basically, it sounds like, my thread got locked because another thread that may have had inappropriate content that may or may not have broken the forum rules made Google upset?

I'm confused, as far as I can understand it seems like posting any picture of any person is unacceptable to post on this forum?

Babe thread was closed down, you start another one, it was locked and you're like

[yt]_3PUu88nOcw[/yt]

IBTL

It wasn't a babe thread anyway. It was pictures of people that people thought were beautiful. There was nothing inappropriate in it AT ALL. The other thread has more risque stuff than it did.

And honestly, when I can see more risque stuff on Google's own image search than I can in a forum that uses its ad system, maybe somebody needs to have a talk with Google about how it does business.

I might be wrong but at some point I think posting ib4tl was a bannable offense :bleh:

No, all that happens whenever I post that is that the mods then refuse to lock the thread so I look like an idiot for posting it.

...like I need their help in looking like an idiot. HA! :p

Regardless about whether it was trying to be another babe thread or not (it was), it got reported by some members here so it was closed. There are plenty of other places in the interwebs where you all can find pics of babes, err I mean 'beautiful people', and this isn't really the place for that.

Anyway, thread moved to the Feedback forum

There's plenty of other places on the internet to find graphics card news, and political discussion, and everything else this site offers, though, isn't there? So why have this place at all?

And come on. Are you really saying we now can't post pictures of people at all, because someone somewhere might find them attractive? Because at least one of those threads was not a "babe" thread.

I'm just saying, if this is the kind of logic that goes around here, I have to wonder why anyone's bothering at all.

Regardless, the other non-graphics card parts of the forum don't violate Google advertising rules. I suppose we could make an opt-in 'beautiful people' subforum like we did with the political forum, not really sure if that would get by the Google revenue limitations or not.

Either way, feel free to submit your complaints to Google advertising about their limitations. Until then, R3D is bound by their rules as long as we take their funding.

Futhermore, after a handful of complaints - I closed it. It wasn't bothering me personally, but it did bother others, and thus I'm just doing my job here. If I leave it open I upset them. If I close it, I upset you & Vanz. Oh well, can't please them all - but I would rather upset you & Vanz than Google. Sorry.

Hence the "You're all ugly" thread?

speaking of which, if I get turned on by looking at that thread should I report it as being too salacious/erotic?

or just not ever admit it to anyone?

There isn't/wasn't anymore than that. The site has got to be paid somehow and since basically no one subs Google ads will win out.
