Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes Coming

Remedy and Rockstar Games have announced they will be remaking Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.

In a surprise announcement Remedy will work with Rockstar under a new publishing agreement to remake the first two Max Payne games for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Remedy will handle development while Rockstar will finance the project "which will be in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production."

The Max Payne remakes will also be developed on Remedy's Northlight game engine, the same engine used to develop Control and the upcoming Alan Wake 2.

Remakes of these games in their newest engine, and a AAA budget... could be really great. Could be.

Despite it being twenty years since Max Payne 1 and 2, I still get the sense of 'been there, done that'. I wonder what Remedy has in store for the remakes - I think especially MP1 is going to need a proper overhaul of its boxy level design to match modern standards.

I was just playing through them recently. Awesome games that hold up rather well. But MP1... the lighting is pretty dated, so are the textures and so is all the geometry of the game in general(both model and levels). Max Payne 2 is no where near at bad, but could still use a update.

Man on Fire 3 was pretty good, those unskippable cutscenes ruined things though.

Amazingly fun games. I replayed MP1 last year and the gameplay still holds up incredibly well. So addictive I could not put the game down.

I'd be into a remake if anything just to support Remedy. They are great developers.

They better ****ing not. The story, writing, characters, acting, comic scenes, were all just as important as the action.

Well I am referring to the sequence where you have to walk on a tight wire. Agree the dreams themselves and the backstory it provides are essential.
