(MMC) ---> ATI AIW PRO128 with WinXP SP2

I have been using my older ATI AIW PRO128 now for the last few years in one of my Linux boxes.

Well I decided to give that system to my brother-in-law.

The system is a DFI AK74-EC motherboard with a Athlon 1Ghz Socket-A processor. It has 512MB of PC133 RAM but for a non-gammer this seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

I went down and picked up WinXP Home with SP2 along with a new 160GB hard drive.

The install was quick and easy and I noticed that all the WDM drivers were installed. The graphics showed full acceleration with DXDIAG without installing anything other than the OS.

So I decided to just install MMC.

Install DVD codec: (Link still works):
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/dvd-7-6.exe

Install TV MMC Application: (Link still works):
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/MMC-7-6-noDVD.exe

MMC 7.6 was the best version for the AIW PRO32 card when I used it before and it seems very stable with the stock drivers in WinXP SP2.

I also installed Guide-Plus and it works fine as well.
Capture in VCD format works fine with no dropped frames.
DVD capture worked well but it will drop a few frames when the capture starts. Only a couple of drops at the start and you really can't tell it dropped them.

So if you have an old ATI AIW PRO32 laying around you should be able to use the WinXP drivers with the MMC 7.6 release just fine as well.

Maybe you have older hardware you are thinking of passing along to another family member too!
