Navi Reviews

That’s actually much better than I expected from the early reviews! If it’s really a $399 part that is pretty solid. They just need to up the ante and make something that will top or match a 2080TI..

Agreed. That blower cooler has got to go through.

GamersNexus discussion about the drivers just goes to show how awful AMD is at driver support sometimes .. having completely broken features in release drivers is unacceptable. NV has issues with drivers but for the most part, release drivers function as they should. Fan control being broken is ridiculous, and so is overclocking for some reason not working in a release (not even a press release) driver ..

Yeah after all these years drivers are still questionable. :( :bleh:

 the drivers will even out, they always do.

That’s not the point. Why is AMD releasing a driver for a new card they’re releasing that can’t even monitor core clocks properly, none the less change them? Why is AMD still releasing drivers that have completely broken fan speed control? It’s **** like this that explains why AMD has been bottom tier for so long in the dGPU world. I’m sorry but it’s completely unacceptable. Drivers mature, and that’s fine it’s expected to, but having features completely broken or not functioning properly is a lot different than what we see out of NV. This seems to happen every single AMD release; they shoot themselves in the foot time after time.

Not to defend AMD here, but I've had just as many issues with both Nvidia and AMD. Both get better after a few months. Not talking games, but just usage (not waking up from sleep, incorrect resolutions, color issues, crashes and reboots, crackling GPU audio or not working at all etc). Usually turns out ok.

These days it's Windows 10 that's been causing issues  oh man...

2ghz+ when the fan is at 100%

Looks like good news for custom cooled AIB partner cards.

 if only all engines were coded for AMD like forza.

So I was proved right then when I said the only certain thing about Navi launch would be the drivers would be crap just like Vega and Radeon VII.

At maybe $£300 the 5700XT might be a value purchase but it would have to be an AIB partner board not the current POS AMD are shipping. Can't see it happening for a long time though.

Partner boards are due out end of July. They will be the best ones to get tho as they use the AMD reference pcb but with aib cooling. AMD builds its pcb's and vrms really well. Later there will be smaller/shorter pcb made by the partners typically with weaker vrm...

No surprise theres some drivers issues and lack of perf in some games as its a whole new architecture and shader model.

A german youtuber had the 5700xt running at 2.1ghz using water on it.

Remember the 7970 GHZ edition?
I wonder if they will do a 5700xt 2ghz edition perhaps with some faster ram as a refresh...

I have an asus R290 dcuii wonder if itll fit... They say 2 ghz is easy to get on the 5700 xt.

TPU has it about 12% slower than a 2070 Super at 1440P. Not sure who the target market is for the card but at 400$ seems ok. AIB can give this card some legs.

With the simplest of better cooling getting it to 2.1+ ghz is a breeze. While it doesnt have VRS like Turing it can still push out enough frames that it beats the 2060 super its priced at easily. In some games it matches the 2070 super and even in one game the 2080.

Oddly the 5700 is best in games that used to favor nvidia like GTAV. Whatever navi has under the hood and does its interesting.

Still kinda hope they will put out a hybrid RT driver by fall/xmas like nvidia did for its gtx cards.
