he's selling me a a MSI GeForce4 Ti 4200-VTD8X wiht 128MB DDR 8X AGP VIVO for 140 bucks CDN with tax... should i get it or go for a radeon 9200 instead?

that card looks good, and I think it's very cheap :), I though that those cards were still like $200, I'm not sure how it compares to a 9200, but I guess that ti4200 outperforms the 9200. The 9200 was introduced to compete with the FX5200, and I've read that the 4200 is far better than a 5200. It only lacks dx9 support, but how useful is dx9 if you can't run it over 10FPS?

How much US$ is 140 CDN?, the cheapest you can get a Ti4200 here is US$200 for the 64MB version, the ATI cards are a lot cheaper!,

alrigtey...thx a bunch, i will get the card then. it's just that this will be my very very first nvidia card ever so i wanna make sure i'm getting a good deal... i've always been with ATI and i'm afraid i might like the way it's meant to be played...;)

GF4ti is a pretty well proven piece of hardware, pretty much the last nVidia card I've been recomending to people.

If you can't afford a 9500/9600 Pro, then get yourself a GF4ti. :D

ARGH!!!!! HE DOESN'T HAVE THE VIDEO IN MINI CONNECTOR THINGY MSI SUPPLIES WITH!! by any chance, does anybody know where i can get one?

Buy a new one, take the video thing and return it saying it's missing that piece

Or, alternatively...

Or, alternatively...

...you could write a very nice letter to MSI explaning your dilema & I'm pretty sure they'd either give you one or sell ya one for cheap. I've heard good things about them and support. :)

my gosh, the letter worked! thank you sooomuch msi.. i soo hope they make ati cards in the future..

MSI does make ati cards. A french or german computer company asked them to make a 9600 TX (a cheaper version of 9500 pro). However, these cards never go public as they are OEM cards. If you want to take a look of the card, try using the search option of the forum and search for 9600 TX. :)

huh? :hmm: The GF4 TI4200 64DDR sells for $89us not $200us. Where did you see such an inflated price? I found it for 89 using http://www.pricewatch.com and http://www.newegg.com

anyway, $140CAN sounds like an excellent deal for a TI4200 128DDR AGP8X VIVO, and it is definetly faster than a R9200. Go for that deal!
