New rig Help me from being an idiot

So after buying the 5800x3d I bought the rest of the components sans the video card. I bought 2 Inland professional ssd's during a sale in Feb for 150, I just added one to the list below as a placeholder.

After 1 day I'm tired of looking at it sitting dark on my table. I am really leaning against taking my FuryX out of the rig to put in the new one. It seems that a 6700xt or even a 6600xt would probably give just as good if not better at 1080p not to mention not having to use nearly 1 year old legacy drivers.

I duel boot so I really don't want to deal with Nvidia drivers under Linux.
This case really screams for one of those aio video card like either:

Both available at my local microcenter if they price match Amazon on the Asus card that would knock off 110. Still 400 more than the Sapphire card only real differences are the Sapphire card requires an extra 6 pin pcie connector and the Asus only has 2 dp connectors because they added a usb-c. Having rgb sync between the motherboard and vid card would be nice not sure about 400 dollar nice

Buying a 6600xt is basically half way to the Sapphire....

Caught between practicality and desire Help

Good price on that sapphire toxic LC limited. That would be my choice between the two.

When I was running 6900 cards in my desktop I wanted to get the 6900 sapphire toxic LC - extreme edition. Was not really possible to find it in stock and it was stupid (2500$) expensive at the time. If I were to get a 6900 right now that would be the one.

A 6600xt would be fine for 1080p and should cut it until the next gen comes out as long as they are released in the next six months. They are good little cards IMO.

Throw in a 3080 12 GB card. Great performance and only 999 these days at most sites.

Between the two you posted go for ASUS LC.

Id go for the Neo ram for the Gskill.

Keep the Fury if only gaming at 1080p the new GPU's are coming sept-oct and will be a major upgrade from the current gen.

FuryX if you can hold, 6600XT if you can't. I like my 6600XT, allot really, it's been a great card. It's much, much faster than my R9 Fury and with TSR I can use RT just fine in GhostWire: Tokyo and I expect with FSR2 that flexibility will only increase. But, I also bought @ release and I expect to replace it this coming generation.

I also have a second rig for this card to go to next. Where it will replace the R9 Fury currently powering it along just fine :)

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback.

I thought the price of the Sapphire was great too.

If I didn't dual boot with Linux that option would have made the most sense, I'd probably have gone with

KAC will sell you one for half price, he has about 10.

I forgot to swap that out in the list I did buy the Neo from the QVC list. Thanks for the reminder.

Your post was the the reason I wound up grabbing the Asrock 6600XT for 419.99 I'll have use for it once the new cards come out.
I know I would have been happy with the performance of one of the high end cards right up until you guys start benching the new stuff. Then I would have hated my choice. Thanks again guys.

I opened two browser windows on the drop early this morning and one made me wait 'just' 17 minutes. After getting in only the 6800 was sold out. 6900XT, 6800XT, and 6700XT were in stock.

I closed the window. I wasn't really interested in buying. :D

But yes for the money that 6700XT would've been a good score if the OP were still searching.

Obviously pricing and availability are getting better now. Significantly so.

That sucks. The 6700XT was available for $479 up until about 10:30 today on AMD's website.

I almost bought one just for novelty.

As of right now 6900XT is still "Add to Cart" @ $999 https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/us

I tried every Thursday morning for the last several months to buy a card from the AMD site and never got past the queue. Honestly it was worse than trying to score a PS5. I bought mine on Tuesday and was up and running. I was not interested in waiting for a maybe any longer. :D

And keep in mind DarkFoss, I'm pushing 3840x1080p. So that's about as hard to push as 1440p. So you should be sitting just fine @ 1080p. Hope you enjoy the card, I have :)

Yeah it would have added value of being a temp folding card. the 6600xt falls short on that end. But AMD cards in general underperform kinda hoping to add an Intel Arc card at some point.

No disappointments buying the card, it's performing quite well. Excellent replacement for the Fury X.

Overall I'm happy with the build except I should have gone with my 1st choice of a 360 aio. Temps off by 4-6c I could have messed up the thermal paste pretty sure I made contact before I rotated the hoses to the 3 o'clock postion.

FYI OP

I'm an idiot so I can't really help you here. Just sayin'

It's become clear to me I'm a compulsive spender on computer parts. I will be on Dr. Phil next week so be sure to check me out. :bleh:

I'm flat amazed I haven't spent money on a 5800X3D or moving to Intel. Just because I get bored so easily..
