New Sonic compilation incoming

SubCog

Radeon 8500 64mb
Sonic Origins, coming to every current platform. Includes Sonic 1, 2, 3, & CD, all running on Christian Whitehead's "Retro" engine. Supports widescreen, which makes a BIG difference for Sonic games.

Yeah yeah yeah, I've already bought all these a bunch of times now. But I'm a sucker and this looks great, so I'll be plopping down cash for this one.

This collection is really only missing Sonic Mania & Knuckles Chaotix. Well, and that Sonic 4 garbage, but I don't think anyone will be missing that. Oh, and the Master System / Game Gear games. And the Neo Geo Pocket one. And the GBA ones. Anyways, this collection has the most important stuff.

I'd also love to see a new version of Sonic Spinball. That game kindof sucks, but I think a remake could be really great.

Widescreen

Sonic Pinball feels half-baked because it was. It was a reactionary release done because Sonic 3 was going to miss the Christmas sale season of 1993. So they quickly had their American studio STI (Sega Technical Institute) make Sonic Pinball to fill the void. I seem to remember the GameGear version being kind of awesome as a time waster :D

Things are getting less cool on the DLC front...

I mean... I could live without any of that DLC or any of that being in the game at all... Sega is so weird :\

Yup, Sonic really works better in widescreen because it gives you that little bit of extra reaction time when you're moving fast. Really improves the gameplay. Without widescreen, you really just have to memorize alot of parts of the levels.

I heard that the game was rushed, and so they coded it in C instead of assembly, so it has really terrible performance. I wish we could see what it would have been like if it ran properly.

What the function? I don't really get any of that.

Boycotting this, I'm refusing to pay extra for vital things like camera control over the main menu islands.

The "DLC" for this looks more like "stretch goals" you see for a game on Kickstarter.

What a joke Sega
