ntel Xe DG1 GPU Graphics Performance Leaks Out – Up To 40% Faster Than AMD 7nm Vega

That's still significant as its a springboard for them to translate into mobile form. AMD laptops are the clear way to go, imo, in terms of price. I just picked up an AMD Ryzen 3700U with built in Vega graphics, 16GB ram, 500gb SSD, for $750. Gonna be a sweet laptop for my girlfriend to use for schooling.

The mobile market is still flooded with Intel products but imo, they're not very good. AMD has done very well and the 4000 series is supposed to be a massive performance increase in their mobile APUs.

Think yall are being a bit too harsh. I see this as a huge win for laptops. It would be nice to have a slim notebook that can play games at decent settings, do some work, watch some netflix at 4k, all on a single chip that doesn't generate a shitton of heat.

AMD was previously king of this area, but having an Intel laptop that does it better is more than welcome.

Edit: Nevermind, this is a dedicated graphics card.

Scaling up a GPU is trivial. That card helps developers optimize their software for Intel's architecture. Intel has also been leaving a lot of money on the table as their workstation/server products currently require at least an entry level dGPU from NV or AMD to make video out.

I don't know that we'll see "gaming" Intel GPUs. Intel would much rather sell directly to the insanely profitable HPC GPU compute sector.
