nVidia 3070 thread

Given this is compared with 2080 Ti and that card is about 20-25% less than a 3080 the 3070 OC might come incredibly close to the 3080 with about only 10-15% delta remaining. For 500 cockslaps looks like a very compelling card if you can find it.

Also makes the 3090 look like an even bigger joke.

3090 is so overpriced for what you get (in gaming) it's just a rip off.

Honestly the only card worth getting is the one that is $700, preferably the Tuf (Like we have a choice) as the gains are so minimal between cards.

You guys might want to look at some reviews that show the noise levels on the TUF. I saw one that measured fan speed and noise and it looked like the Tuf was just cooler because the default fan profile had it running a lot higher RPM and it was a good deal louder than the rest of the cards.

I saw Steve's review of the EVGA FTW card recently and he even recommended the TUF unless you want to do competitive OC.

TUF has a silent profile that still runs it at 68 C. Not bad at all. Compare that to Zotac and Gigabyte that run 75 and 72 C respectively or FTW3 that runs around 71-73 C.

:yep: and I saw Steve's review of the TUF, his concerns were mainly their marketing approach, not the card itself (tire marks on the back not withstanding).

I thought his critique of the tire marks was amusing, the tire marks don't bother me and they are very subtle.

All availability questions aside, the 3070 seems like it could be a great price/performance option for me since I game at 1440p/60Hz and am not too picky about always needing to max out game settings.

I still want a 3080 though simply because I tend to keep my GPUs for 2-3 generations and the 3080 will carry me further, so the $700 tier seems more worthwhile for me.

Even if the 3070 somehow is miraculously in plentiful supply compared to the 3080 I think I still would hold out for a 3080.

The impressive aspect from Amd is they're potentially out engineering Intel and Nvidia while being R&D constrained to some levels.

3070ti rumor makes a lot of sense to me. 6800xt is too close to 3080 for comfort.

3070ti allows team green to price match 6800xt. If true, 3070ti and 6800xt are my potential buys. First available will get my $600-$650.

The only reason I think the 3070TI is plausible is due to the cancellation of the 3080 20GB. I would assume NV has a trick up it's sleeve if the 6900XT ends up faster than the 3090 in raster performance. I'm not sold on the while "NV swapping to TSMC in 2021" rumor, but it would allow a 3080TI to make sense. They'd have to figure out a way to allow the 3090 to have a purpose without it being the fastest card on the market. Maybe the VRAM. Go with a odd sized bus to allow the 3090 to retain the VRAM leadership but 3080TI beats it in fps
