Is there any website that anyone knows of that lists AA compatibility flags for alot of games?

Time to finally put this in one place, because even I lost track of all the different locations where these things get mentioned and then buried under endless other posts.

Available tools:

1. Nvidia Inspector
when you open Nvidia inspector, next to the driver version tab, theres a little icon with the screwdriver and a wrench, click on it, find a profile for the game you want, and input those values under the "antialiasing compatibility" tab. hit apply changes. thats it. (administrator rights required)

2. Geforce sli profile tool (for advanced users)
3. Nhancer (only for pre 256 drivers)

Unreal 2.5 and 3 engine games

Best performance for the majority of U3 and U2.5 engine games - 0x080100c5 (issues in some u3 engine games). Even when nvidia uses a different one in their official profile, you can often gain significant performance just by changing to this flag.
list of unreal 2.5 and unreal 3 engine games is here

Id tech 4 games: Supersampling for quality beyond in game MSAA - 0x0000F0C1
Doom 3
Quake 4
Prey
Quake Wars: Enemy Territory
Wolfenstein

OpenGL games
For OpenGL games, only supersampling flags can work, in case forcing AA without any compatibility flags doesn't.
i suggest trying out 0x0000F0C1

Nhancer list for reference purposes

For games not mentioned, ask away and I will add it to the list if there is an applicable flag.

Big thx to everyone contributing!

Since this is a community effort, feel free to post it on other forums, i cannot take exclusive credit for this :)

ok, stupid question...

In NV Inspector, where do I input those hex codes?

when you open inspector, next to the driver version tab, theres a little icon with the screwdriver and a wrench, click on it, find a profile for the game you want, and input those values under the "antialiasing compatibility" tab. hit apply changes. thats it. :)

Cheers Ganjastar

Hopefully we can expand the thread as time goes by :)

Imm wondering now if any of the newly added flags work for older games that had no AA.

Alone in the dark 2008, Halo 1. :sherlock: im hopin one of these flags will work on GTA 4 as well

as soon as there is a mature version of this driver out, i will definitely do some testing. Form all the AA bugs reported in the guru3d thread for these new drivers (white screen in bc2 with 8AA, 1500+ GPU ram usage in nfs: hot pursuit at 16AA), its clear that nvidia has heard us, and they're updating their AA algorithms.

ATI's MLAA was obviously needed to wake up NV from their deep slumber. :)

Note that the AA compatibility hex values represent a series of bit flags - where each individual bit enables some specific rendering hack. They are not an enumeration that points to a unique hack or anything like that. To that end, you can perform a bitwise OR operations on the hex values to combine different existing AA compatibility hacks.

Because of this, some of the values that GanjaStar listed as requiring the 266.44 drivers might work in the current drivers. For example, I know for a fact that the Darksiders one works in current drivers. It's just enabling a new combination of existing rendering hacks. I.e. it's a combination of bit values already used in other games, it doesn't rely on any new functionality in the driver. However, not all bits are used in current drivers, so if an AA compabitibilty value contains a bit never used before - then there likely is functionality newly added to the driver that corrseponds to that bit.

nVidia Inspector has a window that allows you to enable specific bits to come up with these new values. You can see what it looks like to setup the Darksiders profile below. Unfortunately, what specific hack each bit correponds to nVidia keeps under wraps. NV Inspector shows you games where specific bits are used though.

i don't know why Included darksiders there, in fact i just noticed that :o

yep, darksiders doesn't need new drivers. will fix that. thx for the correction

but nfs one does. tested it myself. with the 266.44 i get AA working on cars, trees and some other parts of the scene. with the 265.90 drivers, manually inputing the new flag didn't affect the cars at all.

could it be different for newer cards? well feel free to test it, because I can't.

Looks like Dead Space, NFS, and Saboteur rely on a bit never used before (namely #22 in the bit editor), so there is probably newly added functionality in the 266.44 driver for them.

PS I hope nVidia doesn't pick up 3301 as the official compatibility value for Darksiders. The combination of hacks it enables exact an extremely heavy performance penalty on the game. I'm sure it would be possible to achieve AA more efficiently with that game if they bothered.

would be interesting to see if any of these newly added flags work on darksiders with better performance. The dead space value in particular is the one i would bet my money on if I had to pick one. :sherlock:

Another thing to test when theres a stable version of these drivers available.

That Dead Space hack made me think hard... I have an unpacked HIS 6950 that will probably unlock to 6970 but now I'm seriously thinking about selling it and going 570:confused: The only games I would need AMD for would be Halo and Gta 4... nV there is Cryostasis, AA forcable to Stalker CoP, Dead Space, AO for Dead Space and Bioshocks...

Could anyone with 570/80 and Dead Space installed post performance 4xAA + forced AO (quality and high quality from nV inspector)? Wouldn't like to go 570 and see it insufficient...

Good man!

Mods, please sticky this important info, thanks.

MLAA not good enough? 570 is a good card but why not keep the 6950?
