~ Official GAMING ON ANDROID thread ~

I've gotta throw in a recommend for beach buggy blitz... never thought to try the game myself as it looked like it's for kids but it's actually rather decent and f'in addictive.

There's a pretty good Humble Bundle right now for Android..

Nine dazzling games for your Android device. The Humble Mobile Bundle includes nine delightful Android-only games. Pay what you want for the top-down strategy game Anomaly Korea; the charming physics puzzler Contre Jour; the quirky tower defense action game Plants vs. Zombies; and third person action brawler Bladeslinger. If you pay more than the average, you’ll also get the mysterious and intriguing puzzler The Room; the side-scrolling shooter Metal Slug 3; the hip arcade game Funky Smugglers; the frenzied arcade shooter Raiden Legacy; and the cinematic action-adventure platformer Another World!

Paper Monsters

Not a new game, but I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread yet. It's your standard platformer but with the graphics looking like folded paper (origami) art. It's fun for kids and to be honest, I had some fun playing it with my daughter helping her out on some of the tougher jumping puzzles. It has a parallax environment which sometimes has you in the standard foreground as well as playing on a background parallax level. Works well with my Fling joystick.

Anyone play real racing 3?

I hate racing games on a touchscreen. I am always afraid of pushing too hard on the screen when braking. I am glad they have heavy braking assist. Don't even need to brake.

Agreed, having accustomed to buttons makes playing games on touchscreen a bit awkward because it's not pressure sensitive. One of few reason I no longer play serious games on phones, making me wanted to buy those bluetooth gamepad

The game looks awesome, graphics is simply amazing for phones. Only let down is the music.

There are serious games that are best played on the phone or tablet, unfortunately they are probably genres you dont liek.

I have the music off. :bleh: I did not see an option in RR3 for a gamepad. I would whip out my wiimote and use it if i could.

There isn't any natively, but you can use Sixaxis controller from Play store to emulate what you are touching on the screen when you press the button on the controller. It works rather well and I enjoyed playing using PS3 controller :) There is wiimote controller apps on Play store but I don't know whether that allows to do the same thing as sixaxis apps do.

Apaprt from that there is https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Proger10Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Quake 3 and Doom 3 apps that allows you to run those games natively from the phone! As long as you have the required game files from the PC games it will work. Itruns very smoothly, if you have USB OTG cable, USB keyboard + mouse you can use that too!

Time waster...

Fantastica

(Mobage game though :( )

Card art looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics. It's got that same crappy mobage interface. For a tower defense game it is interesting. Not many paygates unless you want better cards faster. Quests have a minute cooldown, but the cool down starts during the start of the run, 99% of the time the cooldown is completed before the quest is over.

Just wanted to say Arma Tactics from Bohemia interactive is a really fun squad level TBS. Picked it up yesterday for the nexus 7 and was surprised at how good it is. Usually most android games are crap, to be honest, so I stick to strategy games on ios, but this is ones a winner.

This isn't new, but I'm an old school gamer. I played pretty much all of these as a kid on the Atari 2600. Similar to the Atari Greatest Hit's, the initial download and one game is free. However, the one free game is the least favorite of the bunch. To purchase other games, it uses In App Purchasing. You can buy the entire bundle for about $7 USD. I bought the whole bundle to re-live my old River Raid and Keystone Kaper memories. Unfortunately, the controls are completely terrible. So bad that it makes playing any of the games almost impossible. The way the controls are designed, you cannot use something like a Fling controller.

I hope they update the control scheme, but as it is today, it's almost worthless.

Older game, but I had grabbed it as the Amazon App Store free app of the day a while back. It's basically like a combination of Bejewelled and Tetris, in a good way. Very fun game if you haven't tried it yet.

Angry Birds Star wars II

Angry Birds Star wars II

Its smooth as butter. I like the take on new level designs.
Played for about two hrs last night.
And you can be the Pork (dark) side!

I got it when it was free back then aswell, I just dont like touch controls for most types of games.
And plugging in a controller, then what´s the point of even using the tablet really?

Anyway, StarCommand is kinda nice, really not a fan of the damn minigames for firing the weapons though.
Was slightly disappointed that it wasnt a bit more X-Com like when you get boarded (turn based I guess), but I guess that was a unfair expectation on my part.
Still, pretty neat game sofar.
