Official Mining Thread

Same around here. People sell a shed in Toronto then come to surrounding areas and buy a mansion driving up prices.

I still have 4 rigs on Ergo. Free power is free. The rest are off. Big mining farms messed up Ergo difficulty. Came got free $ for a day. Difficulty adjusted like mad and they left. Now the few left mining are getting literally jack and due to the higher difficulty and now lower network hashrate the block times are slowing down. Ergo is almost about to be extinct. We'll see if it ever fixes itself

Ergo screwed itself because it was not designed to deal with large swings in hash rate. That's on the developers. And one of the chief devs has actually been pretty dismissive of GPU miners in the past so far as I'm concerned he can kiss my lily white ass. I won't be sending any free hash rate their way. They can eat it.

GPU mining has entered the ice age we predicted months back. Unless you have free or extremely cheap electricity it's a total waste of effort. Why make pennies per day even if you're profitable? Still doesn't make sense because you aren't outpacing the depreciation of the equipment.

I've got one of my last 3 3070 cards up on ebay right now and also trying to sell local. Decided holding onto more than 2 just doesn't make any sense. GPU mining might be a thing in the future but at what point and by then what good is a 3070 going to be for it?

I'm mining ergo currently on moneroocean (paid in xmr) but once we hit spring/summer gpus are turning off again unless we have a change in the markets.

Currently it only makes any sense because we actually need to put heat into the house now that it's cooled off quite a bit. It's snowing outside this morning lol

Still mining Ergo.
What about you Riptide?
ETC + ZIL dual mining with a 4090. CPU mining XMR with the ryzen.

GPU going offline when it warms up in spring. Can't justify it at 0.10 kwhr power.

I have a few mini ASIC miners in the garage currently. Ipollos. They will go into the crawl space when it warms up too.

Good stuff! You try conflux again now that it pumped 600% in a week and is profitable again?

Never mined flux. Kinda lost interest a while back when they cut the block reward and people were all up in arms about it.

240v access going in next week. 50 amp. Enough to support two antminers and my minis. Having a real hard time sourcing antminers like the E9 pro for good prices though. They aren't 1299 any more, if they ever were. It's critical not to overpay for them so at this point it may take months before I get anything.

Bitcoin mining, so nice! Wish I had the $$ to get miners. This is the time to buy any if you can. Lots of people bought them in the middle of the bull run and got burned

Look at minetheasic.com and you can see what I'm talking about here. The machines like the S19xp or S19j pro+ for example are still very expensive when you consider that at common electric rates they are barely worth even turning on.

Sure, if and when bitcoin goes way high again they could go up in value and become very good to re-sell for profit. But until that happens, without cheap or free power, you've what amounts to basically a super expensive paperweight.
