Not sure what to suggest Sasquach. Really hope that 3rd party modified driver manages to bring RSR down to the old GCN tech. Buys you time, but your quickly falling down an expensive rabbit whole. Mid to low tier Radeon's are the cheapest options out, but even those hole's are getting hotter and not in the :manches: way.

Im curious what the 6500XT will perform like.....but its not exactly something i would want...i dont think it'll be a big enough performance upgrade over my R9 290....

I have been contemplating if a 6600 is enough for me....which it probably is but if im paying that much i might as well just get the full on 6600XT.
 
I would jump on a 6600XT if you can find it or a 6600 if you can't. Both are considerably faster than your R9 290, so the jump should feel good either way :)
 
wow the 6500xt looks awful. Should be about midway between its current perf and the 6600xt, for the same price. what a joke.
 
I think the point of the card is that its newer architecture, so better potential support, it's MSRP is low and it's useless to miners. So the price should stay low and they should be easier to get because of it... but it's basically an e-sports card.

realistically every card needs to be priced a tier lower to make sense.
Maybe 2 tiers lower when your looking at 6700XT level and up
 
It serves a purpose, it's as affordable as you can make a lowend card right now. Welcome to the current market as it stands. Nothing we, AMD, nVidia, Intel etc can really do about it.

Hope the 3050 is better, but given now popular nVidia hardware is for mining, they will likely be vapour.
