Takeaway: Good Cooling solutions (and adequate use of screws). 24% improvement in raster performance against 2080Ti (mean increase). 30-34% (mean) improvement in Ray tracing + raster over 2080Ti
E.g. Control 4K with max everything with DLSS: Av 65fps vs 2080Ti @ 49.2fps. DLSS OFF actual 4K: 36.2av Vs 2080Ti @ 26.5fps
FS2020: 4K High 53fps vs 2080Ti @ 45fps
Outlier is Quake II which makes the numbers skew higher
Furmark Power (stock) : 320~; OC: 375W~


...I'll be waiting for the Ti Variant.

I dunno, I feel a little underwhelmed after reading a bunch of reviews.

Its just like meh not a huge increase over Turing.

The takeaway from this is for those who didn't upgrade from a 1080Ti or are using a 2080, in some instances you are seeing 110% increase in performance. Now once the 3090 appears maybe tack on another 15% - 25% ish.

Yeah, I am rather underwhelmed. I'll be getting one anyway since I need a replacement GPU. Still glad I ditched my 2080 Ti when I had the chance. But it's only an average increase over Turing. At 1440P it's only around 20% faster, and if you compare to an overclocked 2080 Ti pulling the same TDP that difference might be as little as 10% faster. At 4K it looks better, but still only about 30% faster, or maybe 20% faster if normalized for power.

Also, no significant improvement in DLSS or ray tracing. Both run faster but only because the hardware itself is faster. It doesn't seem like the ray tracing or tensor cores really saw any major improvements. I was really hoping for a more substantial reduction in the performance hit for ray tracing, so that is pretty disappointing to me. The extra overall performance does help alleviate the issue somewhat, but there's still a noticeable hit for using ray tracing.

Actually, if you ignore the bad pricing (which unfortunately is really important), I'd say Turing was a more impressive improvement over Pascal than Ampere is over Turing. But anyway, it is what it is, an average generational improvement over Turing, and a decent upgrade for people on Pascal. It's no "new Pascal" though.
 
Roughly 25% performance increase over 2080TI on average. We waited 2 years for this. I guess we just have to take whatever they give us at this point lol

3070 will probably just be something like 5% faster than a 2080Ti for $499, that's still a good option for consumers.

Since I'm a 4k gamer getting a 3080 would be an improvement and worth the dollars over a 2080Ti.

But I'm a just sit back and see what the 3090 offers tomorrow. :lol:

Nothing shocking in the reviews. If I can get a FE I will, but wont be that disappointed if I have to wait. Thinking a 3080 with 20GB @ $800 would be sweet.

Agreed. There is no outstanding value here, just normal across the bar. Normal prices, normal performance increase, etc.

I paid $670 for my 1080Ti Strix. The 2080Ti version was $1200+. Now we're back to $700 and everyone is freaking out. I can't make sense of it.

NV and their board partners were stuck with a metric butt-ton of Pascal inventory after the mining crash... price gouging Turing was necessary to clear out the old stock.
