Couldn't find anything posted about this already? Anybody else stumbled upon this?
Outer Wilds is a space exploration game that invites you to embark on a cosmic expedition into a turbulent world driven by forces beyond your control. Let curiosity be your guide as you fly into the heart of a gas giant, meet fellow travelers on quantum moons, and roast marshmallows beneath alien skies. The game is a seamless first-person experience that gives you just 20 minutes to freely explore a miniature solar system as it dynamically evolves over time. After those 20 minutes are up, the Sun goes supernova and the entire Universe ends. Fortunately, the Solar System is stuck in a time loop, and only by exploring over the course of multiple playthroughs will you come to understand the forces and secrets that drive the Universe.

They have announced the launch date

[yt]ZKJUMMCJvGM[/yt]

May 30th on Epic Store and Xbox.

You can pre-purchase it for $14.99 right now on the Epic store because of the Mega sale, instead of $24.99

I pre-purchased it. Look forward to this game.

isn't this the game that betrayed the backers by going epic store exclusive after promising backers that it will be on steam

Well, they didn't actually promise it, they stated it was "current plans", at the time, which suggests that plans could change. They also stated in the same sentence that the current plans was for a 2016 release.

Alpha was solo and I can't imagine having a crew would add anything to the game.
When you're crowdfunding a game I'd say it's risky to 'promise' anything, but people backed with the expectation of Steam release for pc/mac/linux. It's also possible they needed the cash injection and this was a way for them to actually get the game out in a reasonable timeframe.

edit: just noticed the publisher is annapurna, OK I doubt they needed the money
