Path of Exile (Free Action RPG)

My god this weekend was sexy as fuck. Every time i sat down to watch it, i had to get up and change pants again. Stupid june 7 2024 beta release date :(

Was honestly expecting a lot sooner beta than that... like October. I guess they just wanted to capitalize on disgrunted/bored Diablo 4 players.

Amazing the amount of grousing going on though... "they promised it as an expansion", etc. Pretty sure the expansion idea was based on merging the gameplay... ie making POE1 more like what they were doing in POE2, and every change they made to do that just irritated the player base. I think it was a wise call to reverse course and offer it as a separate thing. At least the diehards can't claim that they ruined POE1 with the POE2 release. (They'll claim POE1 neglect after the POE2 release, but that's different.)

Personally, I'm liking what I'm seeing. It'd be nice not being overwhelmed by shit where things turn into a referending on one-hit-pack-kills or you're dead. Funny watching the streamers being able to get that in their heads... they keep running into NEW packs that they're pulling instead of backing into safe areas to fight. heheh.

Yeah, ive been perusing forums and reddit and stuff over the weekend, and my god there are so many people not only complaining about things that are not happening now with the split, but are complaining about stuff in poe2 that they think ruins poe, but its a separate game now, so it makes no sense at all. There is soooo many people spouting false information too. People "quoting" stuff the devs say, but completely miss quoting them or putting words in their mouths. It is kind of insane.

I hope both games are worth playing. With the poes, d4 (in two years), last epoch and undecember, plus grim dawn is supposedly getting some new stuff surprisingly, we are so spoiled for great arpgs.

Unfortunately wolcen is still lackluster, but the rest are all gems.

For example... Heist. If you can't kill things pretty much immediately, it's not possible to do the content as you'll just be overwhelmed. The result is both a gear and build check where the game forces you to zoom-zoom. And so you end up with hundreds of items on the floor, necessitating a filter to get rid of virtually everything.

The new content seems happy to have smaller pack sizes, take a bit more time/effort to kill, and presumably give better/more usable rewards (they were talking about that a couple of years ago, so assume that's part of the philosophy here.) I'm cool with more strategic gameplay.

I just hit 90 with my Guardian using a pretty shitty 5-link staff and not-that-useful armor (basically just life, armor and evasion... no trigger for Farrel's Fur.. looks great withe the ExileCon wings though!) I think I'm going to wait for my goodies to migrate to standard to continue.

So, opinion... once I get my 6 link staff, +2 to level for Dominating Blow or 35% more damage? (btw, really love the three ascended sentinels of domination and one sentinel of absolution... they rule. So fun to pop out 4 super-minions and a Vaal SKeleton hoard on a boss!)
