Pixel 7

Anyone going to try it out other than me?

Despite the privacy issues, which are a big win for Apple, I'm going back to Android. At least they have a somewhat functional face unlock on the new phones though it isn't top tier.

FedEx has already dropped the ball once and had mine out for delivery yesterday only to come back that day with "Delay" on the tracking.

they have some nice preorder deals over here, if you buy the 7 pro you get the pixel watch for free, if you order the standard one you get the pixel buds pro for free. Only up until next monday (10/17/22) though. Still good deals if you ask me.

I'm getting 600 on trade for my iphone 13 pro max and a 200 store credit from google. Sold an old pixel 4 xl that was sitting around. Ended up costing me around 200 out of pocket. Not bad.

Other than the privacy win for apple, which is a big plus in their corner, I like Android better in every way. The customization is something I really missed with IOS. I honestly just couldn't stand it any more.

The fps seems better in the 7 vs the 6. I like the face unlock feature which works well however has some limitations since it's not using true sensors like the pixel 4xl and apple devices. It only works in lit environments and isn't considered secure enough such that it can be used for authentication on certain apps like banking for example.

Overall though I like the 7 pro and just ordered the google pixel buds today with my store credit. Should be nice, I have a set of Jabra that I use at work. Will be great to have a second set at home since I can't apparently remember to bring the Jabra home with me lol

I like the idea of the Pixel line in principle, but there always seem to be hardware flaws or software bugs with each release, at least according to what I read. If Google wants it to become a truly mainstream product, it needs to be more polished.

I agree. The 7 is much more polished than the 6 was and is basically a refresh with most of the issues ironed out. The problems with the fps in the 6 were inexcusable IMO.

I'm still not a huge fan of the fps even though this one is much more better. FaceID/Unlock is more reliable generally IMO. Dry skin or dirt are enough to cause problems for a lot of fps and is really quite common.

Let’s hope that things go more smoothly with the Pixel 7 series. There are already reports of battery drain issues with the Pro at max brightness.

I love Face ID on my iPhone 11. I wish Google had further developed the Pixel 4’s equivalent system.

I've already noticed faster battery drain on this 7 pro vs. my iphone 13 pro max. Could be the screen brightness or alternately some errant application that's sucking power when it shouldn't be. You can run into those sorts of issues with Android whereas you usually won't with ios. Pluses and minuses I suppose.

And yes I agree 100% google made a mistake by giving up on face unlock after the 4xl.

The Pixel 7 series has a face unlock feature, but it falls short on security.

Note that the settings can be tweaked to vastly improve battery life. My Samsung S22+ is not noted for long life (but it was better than pixel 6) but with some tweaking I am pretty happy.

Brightness and the dynamic refresh rate are the biggest ones in my experience. Would much rather have longer battery life than slightly smoother scrolling, etc
