i haven't kept up with so called AAA blockbusters (mainly cuz a large chunk of them do not interest me)
Are quick time events still a thing? or has the occurance of those been reduced?
 
The cartridge idea is likely a way to combat installation times, which have been a major problem during the current generation of games.
 
That would be very cool to go back to cartridges to install games. Get rid of these download times. Now the problem is going to get the industry to conform to not have day 1 patches and have full games on the cartridges like we used to have back in the day.

That's the key right there. Cartridge is useless if you have an 80GB day one patch.
 
I mean if the cart tech is high speed flash based (aka ssd tech) that can be written to it could be super handy.
 
Lots of rumors floating around that PS5 will be have bc with all previous Playstations. Looks like Sony is responding to the gauntlet that ms threw down last generation.

Day one purchase for me if that's the case. :)
 
Sounds great to me. I still have hundreds of physical copies from previous PlayStation generations. Would be nice to be able to box up my PS2 and PS3 and make some much needed space under my TV. Something tells me it wont turn out to be that easy though, and I'll still need to have the old consoles hooked up for certain games, just like with Xbox.

Or they might not allow you to use your old disks... Sony likes to have you buy games again.

I'm not sure the source that put that out is super credible.

Sony at CES today did not list back compat on their features list.
