I'm about to go crazy here. Trying to get my Remote Wonder 2 to work. I never get an icon in the systems tray. I've tried re-installing several times and ATI is little to no help. I've got a Sony Vaio w/ XP home edition. Also using ATI's media center with an All in Wonder card 7500(I think) If I need more info there let me know. Thanks!

I had initially posted this link:

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33742358

But I just re-read that thread, and I don't think you need to revert back to an older driver as that one poster did.

When I had this problem on my system, I was able to use Device Manager to update the driver to the current one, which was already on my system, but apparently had not been properly installed by the installation program. You'll have to choose to update the driver, but don't let Windows search for the best driver. Instead, select your own and browse to the directory that contains your installation files for the remote.

First of all, Thanks for the help. I just tried it but no go. as soon as I select "Ati Wireless Remote Receiver 2.36" in the device manager the PC shuts down and reboots. I dunno anymore. I've been fooling with this thing on and off for about a month now.

:(
i was hoping to get mine working again. after i re-install windows, what i get for USB driver is "ati remote wonder II controller" and no receiver. tried my *** off and still no luck, my receiver is not giving me any light. idea?

seriously. i think it's not installing correctly. 3 times reinstall windows already. no luck yet.

remote wonder II controller. still cant detect receiver. it surely is detecting something alright. just dont know what it is detecting as. (part of the "removable device")
was working before i install new hardware. gigabyte K8Nsc. i dont know if that has to do with this crap.

i dont have any ATIx10.exe. in fact. not much of the remote works. except for the remote, useless without a receiver :( HELP ASAP THX!

this may sound crazy but did you guys install mmc because I had the same problem and after spending 45mins on the phone with tech support we came to the conclusion that we should at least try that and when I did it installed no problems and the remote worked finally
just a suggestion

I have the same problem with the light on the receiver being off. No one has replied to my post asking whether that light is always supposed to be on even if the software isn't installed (is it a power LED?). When I plug the receiver in, Windows tells me it is loading the software but the light never comes on and I get a "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray instead of the remote control icon. I have tried all suggestions from these forums and they have not helped. To date, I have not seen anyone come up with a solution if they have the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. The receiver doesn't light in another computer's USB port either.

I have come to the conclusion it is a hardware failure (unless someone tells me the light on the receiver is off until the software is loaded and everything is working properly) and am going to RMA it to ATI this week.

As you said, ATI is not much help. You have to jump through hoops to email them and when you are finally able to, they reply with auto response with more suggestions and still don't answer your question. You then have to reply back telling them that you still need help and then you get an answer from a human that still doesn't address the issue.
