Radeon 6870 - distorted display

Hey guys, wondered if any of you had encountered this problem with the new 6870?

I can't predict when it will do it, but it occasionally (maybe one time in 20) comes up with a heavily distorted image. It's done it during sessions with 3dMark Vantage and also in the bios on power on (although this time was while using Furmark). The card is connected via the dual-link DVI port to a Dell U2711 monitor, a setup which was previously used with an HD4890 and the same cable. System spec is the one over to the left.

I have not experience that before. First steps I would take is to check and reinsert all connections on the card - slot for the mainboard, power connectors, output cables, etc.

What temps are you seeing when this happens?

the card was pretty firmly seated, all power connectors were securely home and I re-did the DVI cable. Temps were around the 50°C mark, so about normal (they were about 75°C when I took that photo - Furmark had not long started up).

I sent the photo to the supplier and they've agreed an RMA, just wondered if it was something that others had seen. I thought it was a driver issue at first until it did it in the bios as well.

Looks like it's actually a monitor issue. The video in this link shows the same problem.

It doesn't happen often, so not sure whether to live with it. This guy only tried it with DVI, so I don't know if it also happens with Displayport. Obviously I have the option of using Displayport with the 6870, although that port currently gets used by my Macbook Pro. Guess I'll have to monitor it (pun not intended) and raise it with Dell if it gets worse.
