Rage3D v5.0 - what do you want to see?

Please no more forums. Too many as it is

I disagree, a streaming forum where people can have their own threads instead of mixed in OT/PC Gaming spam, and can be bumped when people are online streaming etc, as well as support on how to get going. If you don't want to get into the streaming market, then you clearly aren't taking this update seriously.

I'll have a status update for you within the next couple of days. This will include direction / focus elements that will be guiding features moving forward.

Status Update: We are still working on it. No ETA :bleh:

Rage has been on like a 10 year break. I think the time for breaks should have ended awhile ago.

:bleh:
The big shakeup happened in 2007, so not quite 10 years yet. :bleh:

Things are changing, including the road we've been on with the redesign / new site - which basically was the same Rage3D, updated with a new CMS front end (Wordpress) and current vB software for the forums. The thing is, we no longer think that works for Rage3D - times have changed, significantly. Sure, we can continue hobbling along, producing the random article and keeping the front page somewhat fresh, but that's still hobbling. So, the announcement.

Rage3D's strength lies in its community, our community. Our enthusiasts. We're going to focus on that. What the community wants, the community will produce. Our content will be your content. You enjoy it, you'll write about it. And we'll provide the structure within which to strut your stuff.

Where to from here? Site still gets updated, but the focus will be on the community end. We're going lean - we don't need a dedicated CMS to provide the functionality we're after. We're going to implement a bunch of the changes we've been discussing here, tweaking and focusing the forums, updating our rules and staffing, positioning our site to succeed in this new reality. Change is hard, but this community can pull it off - and I believe the end result will be a stronger site, that will continue to be a great asset to the enthusiast community.

So, yes, the time for breaks is over. But sometimes you have to hit the brakes to see what's what.

Great news!
I didn't get a single word you said...

BUT GREAT NEWS!
At the root of it, it means we are changing our focus from being content driven to community driven.

How does that play out? Well, being content driven, our first priority with "Rage3D v5.0" was developing the new CMS. Get the content up and flowing, then bring along the forums next. All our resource (funding, time, energy) flowed in that direction, and we never got to the forums, the community itself, since it wasn't the driving priority.

With a community driven focus, a dedicated CMS is no longer the priority. We build the community first - new forum software, tweak and hone the forum focus. Take advantage of bells and whistles included in current software, which provides functionality far beyond our current abilities.

So kind of like overclock.net? Not really any original content from the site admins but a ton of user created stuff?

I joke about all the delays and what have you, but I do appreciate the thinking put into Rage. Looking forward to seeing improvements in the near future.

English at last!

What is CMS? Cousin of PMS?

Overclock.net is great for that, I question whether or not rage3d has the user base to do this.

Overclock.net has 3107 users online right now. 814 Members and 2293 guests

Rage3d has 353 users online (48 members and 305 guests)
