S3TC or not S3TC...

that... is my question.

does the radeon support s3tc in opengl or not? i know it uses "texture compression," but nowhere can i find conclusive proof that it's s3tc that's being used, or if it's even available in the current drivers.

anyone up to tackling this one?

Here is the registry change:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ATI Technologies\Driver\0001\OpenGL\] "OGLEnableTextureCompression" = 1

I won't be able to try that out until my card ocmes in stock. Maybe yokomo[Radeon] can try it out for us.

Addendum: I just discovered that there is a setting in the drivers for this. No registry prowess needed :)

So, we should be able to take advantage of the S3TC file pack on the 2nd UT Disc, am I correct?

Sorry to disapoint you Dyno, but from what i heard, the textures on the second disc only works on the S3 MeTaL API. Any chipset other than S3 will not work with that API.
