Sell the Flex Ecoboost for what?

TBH I love the Flex. It's comfortable and for a brick it scoots with those twin turbos!

but I drive 38,000 miles a year and I'm thinking about a better gas mileage car.
I avg. about 19mpg right now. That's babying the Flex. If I get on it, even a little and she drinks like a drunken sailor.

I just started looking.

So far I was thinking...

2020(or newer) Rav4 hybrid.
Researching a bit I've read that there's a few problems.
One being a gas tank issue and the other not getting near the 40mpg average claim. Toyota claim mpg 38-highway/41-city

2020(or newer) Outback
Love Subaru. My Ex had one before our divorce, had a major issue with the engine but fixed by subaru no problem. She's on her second and loves it.
Subaru claims 26-city/33highway.

I drive mostly highway.

One of my biggest loses will be going from a V6 that's twin turbo to a 4-banger. I hate 4 cylinders lol.

Open to suggestions...Need space, cars not really option. Price 30K give or take a little.

I think there is a waiting list for the RAV4 hybrids since all RAV 4's are super popular. They are great as Toyota is top quality, but hard to get and expensive.

Subaru would be easier to pick up I imagine.

Locally I see the Rav4s showing up at dealerships. Not many on the used market with 2020 and newer however. I really don't care to buy new because of instant depreciation.

I know what you mean about that 3.5 "eco" boost. My V8 truck gets better highway gas mileage that she does in her explorer.

Super fun to drive though.

.

Wife and I just got 2021 Subarus... Forester and Crosstrek. Love em. Tried to get it to spin out with a manuever that would have taken me for a wild ride in my older car, but didn't drift more than 6" as near as I could tell.

Outback is basically a longer Crosstrek.

Subaru has a hybrid, but unless you're plugging it into the wall doesn't seem to offer any benefit at all... it just costs more, and the cost/mile didn't really seem to add up.

my f150 has the turbocharged 2.7l v6 ecoboost, excellent performance and mileage. Its surprising how quick it is

Get a minivan. Seems to be R3D mid life crises right now.

Had 2 Caravans over the years with the latest being a loaded 2014 Caravan. Sold that for the Flex. Minivans in general are extremely convenient but I'm not going back to one. The Dodges have crap transmissions.

I'm really leaning toward the Hybrid Rav4. A big turnoff is its interior. It's a downgrade from the Flex.
All though I know I'll pay more a may look at the Lexus equivalent.
I miss my 1995 es300.

Subaru I know is a solid choice.

That's a lot of weight for that little motor to get moving. RIP gas mileage with that setup.

how about the new venza?
Its pretty much the car that fits in between the rav4 and a lexus NX.

More luxurious and stylish than Rav4, maybe not quite as coddling as an NX.

And its a hybrid.

Those are nice. Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually just did a Carvana qoute. I'm surprised on what they are willing to give me. It's like a in-between of what I could get at a dealership trade-in and an out right sale. I may jump on it being it seems hassle free.
