Sharing Broadband (Cable/DSL)

about the original topic-- NATs-- Winproxy and Wingate are both proxy server utilies, they are not NATs. a NAT is transparent-- there is no proxy server setup for every application like there is with winproxy and company. Windows ICS is a NAT-- almost 100% transparent.

The newer versions of WinGate and WinProxy support NAT. I have tried to use them, but I can never get the NAT to work right. I always have to use the basic proxy setup on the programs.

there is another alternative

use win2k pro on all computers and w2k server on the server - configuration probs are easy to overcome - but then it depends if u have a spare computer lying around and copies of w2k.

just an alternative thats all - BTW win98 (in fact all versions not based on the NT kernel) is quite difficult to configure to use the internet through a proxy server(basic browsing is relatively easy -trying to get counterstrike to work was taking the mick).
