Slowdowns?

I just fired up the client again, and I finally got some work: a coronavirus WU (11742).

My systems are not able to get any WUs this morning.

And in addition, here's what happened when the last WU was uploaded:

10:59:11:WU02:FS01:Trying to send results to collection server
10:59:11:WU02:FS01:Uploading 23.06MiB to 155.247.166.219
10:59:11:WU02:FS01:Connecting to 155.247.166.219:8080
10:59:17:WU02:FS01:Upload 17.35%
10:59:23:WU02:FS01:Upload 40.12%
10:59:29:WU02:FS01:Upload 68.86%
10:59:35:WU02:FS01:Upload 98.13%
10:59:35:WU02:FS01:Upload complete
10:59:35:WU02:FS01:Server responded WORK_QUIT (404)
10:59:35:WARNING:WU02:FS01:Server did not like results, dumping
10:59:35:WU02:FS01:Cleaning up

Looks like 12 hours of folding that got wasted.

I haven't seen anything like that on my systems. Sometimes sending the completed WUs takes 10+ tries or either I don't get new WUs. Fortunately for the last 24 hours or so, neither has been an issue.

When I first started up my 1060/i7 laptop to fold, the first few WUs were like that.

My desktop has had several crashes since starting this (very frustrating - I've narrowed it down to the GPU needs to be taken apart and put back together again, properly... by a professional) and occasionally after resuming a WU it was working on it the results will get rejected.

Haven't seen that message in a while, though.

I've giving up folding on my laptop.
Other programs were starting to be extremely slow and WU would crap out half of the time when restarting folding after pausing it.
For now, I'll still keep the 2400G folding.

Same here. Sunday night I left it on all night. When I got to it at 8AM, I had a tally of zero points for the day. Much different story today.

I assume we all check the stats at ;-https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/individual_list.php?s=&srt=1

Check out user ec2spot for team AWSFolds

just under 2 billion 24hr average.
That must be some kind of super computer as it's like having 1000+ GPU

That's Amazon Web Services Elastic Compute Cloud! They're probably devoting spare capacity on their cloud infrastructure to folding.

And that probably explains why I'm getting no GPU WUs again.

I don't know if anyone is experiencing point loss, but I'm getting about a 25% success rate of successful WUs complete actually adding to my score.

Third, for all the people that have been emailing me complaining where are their points and what's going on. Let me be clear: I am in no way affiliated with Bowman Lab, Washington University, or the official F@H project. I'm just a regular guy like all of you, and I get all my information from all the same public resources. Sorry but I can't do anything about missing points, server problems, or any of that stuff.

After I updated my laptop's drivers, it's been cruising along at 350k PPD but my daily average is 220k? :hmm: Also my desktop is sporadically producing 40 - 90k GPU WUs and 2k - 30k CPU WUs? :hmm: 1.2M PPD if I let it run continuously? :hmm:

I should be averaging about 800k PPD. I just had a big 200k point upload success between the two computers 90 minutes before the next "run" and I got a whopping 0 for that segment.

I am missing points too, according to my stats on EXTREME Overclocking. Is that what you are looking at? This is what the developer of the site had to say yesterday.

It looks like the F@H servers have been getting hit pretty hard these past couple days. When things get overloaded, the stats feed become the low priority on the update list (hence, all the 0 updates). Rest assured, any WUs you send back to the servers are safe and will get processed eventually, just please be patient! The F@H team has been diligently bringing more servers online, but I think there are so many idle clients out there it still far exceeds all the new capacity.

Take at look at your stats on the Folding@Home website. It says that you have 5,306,055 points from 4,262 WUs. Does that look better?

With that being said, however, I could swear that I should have more points in the official F@H stats too. Maybe the credit is simply getting lost.

I will say that it does look better, but that's the exception, not the rule. Usually the EOC score is higher. Crazy stuff going on. Almost as crazy as our economy flatlining to unsuccessfully slow the virus.

Stats servers are a bit lower on the priority chain, but they'll eventually catch up and you will see a big dump....well, usually :D

You got over 5 Million points with the last run/update. I got a about 860k. I think we're caught up.

So for about three days, the only time my PC is not folding is when I've manually paused it (or after a crash :bleh: ). Getting a constant stream of CPU WUs, and near-constant GPU WUs. The most attempts I've seen before download is four.

Those of you having issues with advanced projects - it might be feasible to turn off the advanced key and get more PPD 4 R3D!
