so... any ideas on the latest mobility chip?

I have been looking and looking and looking at various laptop websites over the last few days and realized that the mobility x1800 was available over six months ago in laptops and nothing since then?

anyone also think it must be getting close to the time for ATI to release a new laptop chip? anyone care to provide even the hint of rumors (heck at this point I could probably start a few rumors myslf!)???
 
I'm also interested in this as I'll be in the market for a laptop soon. With Vista/DX10/R600 all "just around the corner" - I'll like an inkling of what may be available at what times.

Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to hear otherwise, I'm guessing a new mobility part will be quite a ways off. One of the things I love about ATi's Mobility parts is that they stick to 35W TDP. The 7900GTX GO is about double that.

Because both the R600/G80 parts are said to be such energy/heat hogs, I'm thinking it'll be a while before they get new Mobility part that can match their self imposed 35W TDP limit (should they stick to it).

However, if anybody does have any news/rumors - please post. Tnx.

:drool: I wish ATI can do ATI mobility chip come with full unified archeiture and DX10 functionally with beast speed and improve less consume power.
 
High end graphics cards are a little silly in laptops in my opinion. If your laptop only gets 20 minute battery life i honestly dont see the point? Why not just buy an acual desktop?

Because you can use it as a portable desktop, and take it with you on conferences, trips, and plug it in while you game, but use it as a laptop when you need wireless (network & power)?
