UAE always had higher prices for games than normal but it was about 70 bucks instead of the usual 60. Now for PS5 and XSX game prices I am seeing as high as 80-90 bucks for each game. This literally means for me that I will be using my contact to get me games at a reasonable cost or waiting for them to become available.

Is it the same in USA also? All game prices have increased to 70 or something? Wtf is this crap?

Looks like a $10 increase here too, for the games I'm looking at for the PS5 anyway. I don't buy many as it is...but it's going to be less now.

Yep looks like all triple AAA games are now $70. The only games I will pick at that price will be something that I know is great, otherwise will be waiting for sales on them. $70 for 1 game blows. Makes gamepass look even more attractive.

That's kind of been my policy for years now anyways. Much more incentive to just wait rather than buying at release.

Yes, I'm going to be that guy and say when you think about it though game prices have not kept up with rate of inflation at all. I actually remember paying $70 for some RPG games on the Super Nintendo like Chrono Trigger back in the day. That was like 25 years ago. This is the reason why the past decade has been plagued with DLC and micro-transactions in games. $60 doesn't cut it anymore for these big budget blockbuster titles. I'd much rather them just charge more depending on the game, and not have micro-transactions, but I know they will raise the price AND continue having the MT.

80€ games will mean much more MTX/battle passes/GAS nonsense since people will be buying way fewer games.

****, games are now more expensive than in the n64 era in the EU.

Im used to paying expensive prices becuase the Nintendo tax is real lol.

So i guess the other consoles...caught up?

No wonder Nintendo prints money is such a meme.....

There are several games, or game types that for me are worth the cost though.

If it's Souls-like/Nioh Like, or a massive game like HZD, I'll get more gameplay out of a single title with that than I will out of 4 r 5 other's that have no replay value.

Never thought I would have a real reason to be grateful for my game related ADD.

I wait for sales as it is, unless it's an absolute must have. Last game I paid full price on was Super Mario Maker 2...

It was extremely rare that I'd ever pay even $60 for a game, and it would only be games that I really wanted to support the developers AND had quite a bit of play time. Like Fallout 4 and games like it. I plan to buy Cyberpunk 2077 at full price, whatever it will be just to support CDPR.

But $70-$80 for a single game? Hell no, that's nuts.

I usually only buy games during Steam sales. I'll set a limit for $40-$60 and buy as many games as I can and have games for at least 6 months. Then I'll do it again at the next big sale.

There are exeptions i feel.
Stuff like Nintendo first party titles....do NOT go on sale very often so usually i would just bite the bullet and get it otherwise who knows how long i'd have to wait.

there were a lot of early N64 titles that would cost over 100 bucks

Games are 80 Euro here now, pffft. Godbless places like CDKEYS because there's only like 3 games I'll ever consider paying fullprice for.

What's the exchange these days? About $1.30ish > Euro? That's painful...

edit: Google says $1.17 today so $94US roughly. Ouch

Did someone hear any indication this will also apply to PC ports of the next gen console titles? I didn't hear anything regarding price increase on PC games.

I'm reading some source of tech/game news or another almost daily and haven't seen anything. I would guess it will just be done with no announcements beforehand if any publishers are planning on it.

MS has announced no such price hike in the US for first party. Sony is raising prices on their first party.
