SoftBank Dumped Its NVIDIA Stock

We shouldn't care about Saudi investment funds, or what any greedy investment firm buys or sells.

This was the important part for me:

NVIDIA has seen its share price cut in half over the past 4 months and recently cut its financial guidance for Q4 2019.

If you've not followed this story Nvidia have cut it's forecast due to weaker demand in China, data centers not updating GPU's and the weaker than expected Turing GPU sales. Now there's not much NV can do about the first two but if Jensen wasn't such a greedy bas***d he can do something about the third. Unfortunately he's way too egotistical to admit the pricing was wrong so the stock price will continue to fall. Maybe there's a floor price where NV will have to act and cut prices but that's just speculation.

They do seem to have given up on volume sales. Im not sure what the fabrication rate for 2080 and 2080ti's are but at those prices they are addressing a very small part of the market...

And everything below that is not an upgrade to the last gen in terms of perf. So why buy?

The ti should be 700$ tops.

I just think they were over ambitious and misread the market (in regards to demand for ray tracing in its current state). That GPU and tensor cores are likely not cheap to produce and TI is probably priced in line with the cost/profit ratio of their other products.. In other words, they were forced to sell near that price due to the cost of production.. But sure, they could cut margins a little if they wanted to.

I think they could have sold a 2080Ti without tensor cores (say 1880TI) for around 2080 price and it would have flown off the shelves.
