The Nvidia 1660 TI Will Launch on February 15 at $279

Just another Troll
"HardOCP's sources tell us that the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti will launch on February 15, with an MSRP of $279. The GTX 1660 will launch in early March at $229, while the GTX 1650 will go on sale for $179 in late March. Additionally, Nvidia will continue to supply the 1050 TI to retailers, and its price will drop to keep it competitive. The exact launch prices are still in flux, and any performance figures that show up on the web need to be taken with a grain of salt until independent testers like us get the cards in our labs. But if Nvidia's RTX lineup is too pricey for you, and if you're having trouble finding GTX 10 series cards in stock at major retailers, some cheaper alternatives from Nvidia should be here soon."

What are they adding?

Tons. Including fixing that pesky VR controls. Actually 3.0 is due out any day now. Don't think I can link it here though, just go find the official thread on hongfire or reddit.

Nice about time they fix that janky ****.

Mebbe this time i wont be stuck in the floor or upside down.

Not gonna happen.

I'm sure it wont but it should, since RTX is not ready for prime time. No one would buy RTX 2080 TI then I'm sure. I wont anyway at current prices. I wasn't happy about spending $670 on my 1080 Ti and then this round they double it! I will probably move into a console King and buy both new Xbox and PS5 for the price of one 2080 Ti when they come out and live with that instead.

The only way I see it happening is if AMD comes out with a card that's competitive with the 2080 Ti and undercuts Nvidia heavily on price due to their chip not being bloated by RTX and thus being smaller and cheaper to produce.

With Nvidia holding still like it has, I have no doubt AMD can be competitive with them again. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's too soon for the Ryzen money to have put them back into competition. I'm afraid we're looking at more like a 2020 time frame before that happens.

Missed it by that > < much.

Off by a week but here we go.

1660 Ti really seems to cut the legs out from under Vega 56. Sure it's a little faster still, but it uses a lot more power. Yes, you can undervolting, but that's still something you have to do and somewhat at the whims of the Silicon lottery. It's not as straight forward as just buying a 1660 Ti.

I feel like we're going to have to see a pretty substantial price cut on Vega 56 and RX 590 for them to remain competitive. Also the bar has now been raised for Navi. If it offers 1070 performance at $250 that's not going to seem so impressive anymore.

On the bright side maybe we're finally going to see some better price/performance in GPUs, albeit only at the lower end of the product stack.

When I bought a GTX1080 I declared it would be my last GPU purchase, but now I'm excited for the 1880 Ti @ $699.
