Oh hey, this is great news. So glad I waited. 
"The TITAN RTX is very much focused on deep learning developers and AI researchers who work with larger neural networks and data sets, so for gamers, the RTX 2080 Ti is still the premier card."
So was the Titan V which was $3,000. So this is actually cheaper for that target audience.
Question is....is anyone HERE part of that target audience?

and there won't be a titan strix and i'm not buying a NVidia Titan RTX Frying Edition

Just like how people spent $1300 on 2080s in the end after all the complaining.
It's easy for me to say that people have zero will power because I can't afford it.
But yea, people have zero will power.
Nvidia is pulling off a powermove. They literally have nothing to lose at this stage in time because they are in such an incredibly good position just now.
Don't want to spend large on a 2080? Buy our 1080 line, it's still better than anything the competition has to offer.
Want the absolute best? Buy our 2080 line with which we are super overtly pushing the price envelope, because the competition is sitting on its ass.
Prepare for $600 low-end gpus in a few years.

Some gamers may buy it but the value is more aimed at the full precision professional market.
Things may change quickly with product and strategies and Amd actually did overtake and rip overall discrete share away from Nvidia some time ago; and could happen again as Moore's Law evaporates.

Well they lost people like me.
I used to buy a new high end GPU from them every 2-3 years. Now its more like every 5-6 years, if at all.
