Having trouble playing CD ROM games with Windows 2000 and ATI 3D Rage II+PCI. Error message says 3D not detected. Suggestions???
Thanks.

You are definitely out of luck on this one. Your card is way too old to play anything. ATI does not even provide win2k drivers for this card.

Big Z is correct, the Rage Pro series is simply too old to play any games decently. You can check out his driver page at http://www.geocities.com/ziyadhosein but in the end I'm afraid you'll probably have to upgrade.

What are your current computer specs? CPU, RAM, etc? We could easily recommend some upgrades for you.

Thanks for your replies.

As embarrassing as it is, here are my specs:

IBM Aptiva w/ AMD K-6 (speed=slow)
upgrade to Windows 2000
256 MB RAM
CD-RW drive 52x32x52
4.0 GB hard drive, 1.85 GB free space

That's about all I can think of . . . .

Thanks

Ouch. I not trying to put you down at all, I'm sure it's a decent computer that has served you well for many years... however I can not think of any contemporary game that would run well on those specs. At this point you're probably not even meeting the minimum required specs on most games. Your best option at this point is to build/buy a new computer from scratch. And trust me the only part worth transplanting from your current computer would be the CDRW drive. Other than that I recommend any speed Athlon64, no less than 512mb RAM but 1gig is recommended, and no less than an 80gig hard drive.

In the off chance you do wanna keep that computer but change the video card only, you could get a Radeon 9200SE PCI for about 50 dollars. I certainly wouldn't spend anymore than that on your PC.
