What driver feature/update would you want to see next?

Simple question, what would you want to see next as feature in the drivers next?

I'll go first.
- Driver side scaler updated to use the same tech as FSR.
I want to see "Radeon Scaling" added to the display section of the driver. Along with a "add percentage based scaling resolutions" tick box after enabling it.

The FSR tech should trickle down like we saw FidelityFX CAS come driver side with "Radeon Image Sharpening". And putting it right along side "Integer Scaling" makes sense.

- Virtual Super Resolution updated.
I want to see 16:10, 21:9/10 and 32:9/10 support and a greater number of resolutions options. Right now it only works in 16:9 for no apparent good reason.

No posts on driver fixes. I'll delete them, this about new features and updates.

I wanna see vsr become aspect ratio agnostic and have more steps as well as higher vsr resolutions than 5k

Good ideas.

Honestly? Integrate the nvidia version of FSR, its 6 tap upscaler called Nvidia Image Scaling into the driver as well as its also gpu open. While FSR 1.1 or 2.0 will probably match it eventually, tho not sure on future hw support, its been seen to run better quality than fsr 1.0, tho less than dlss, in some games.

And since not all upscalers work on all games its always good to have more options.

More taps does not = better quality and nVidia's implementation of has allot of ringing. From what I have looked at thus far, NIS looks worse than FSR. Both are based on lanczos, but nVidia hasn't done anything to improve it, where as AMD did.

Depends on the game from some reviews and it would increase game coverage where fsr isnt available...

If it's driver side like nVidia has done, then it's usable everywhere. But if AMD implements EASU (Edge-Adaptive Spatial Up-sampling) for the scaling like is used FSR, there is no point in implementing regular lanczos. Especially as you can layer Radeon Image Sharpening on top if you want increased sharpness. Which use's CAS and is also better than the sharpening filter used in NIS.

Your wish just came true lol:

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-to-...lution-rsr-technology-that-works-in-all-games

The word ‘nearly’ is actually pretty straightforward, the technology will only work with games that support exclusive full-screen mode, which does not sound like a huge issue.

According to our information, RSR is based on FSR 1.0 algorithm and will work through the Radeon software driver. The technology will therefore overcome the biggest issue of proprietary super-resolution technologies, which is a requirement to be implemented in a specific place in the graphics pipeline. This is usually needed to prevent issues with user interfaces, which are usually rendered at native resolution. In other words, RSR will not require game developer support but will work independently through a Radeon driver.

I'm kinda really happy it's happening. As it will extend the life of this card, especially when it gets retired into my SO's PC :)

Are you a moderator too ? :D

I remembered vaguely that you were but i checked the list of admins and didn't see your name. This is the list that apears for me:

bittermann, Cyko, Gandalfthewhite, acroig

Trunks and I are Super Mods, Lupine and Curio are Admins.

Return of the feature that lead to things like SweetFX and ReShade. Bring back the custom Smart Shaders feature :D

I wonder if they could repurpose RT units to do raster when RT isnt used via a driver update? That would give AMD a good boost when RT isnt used or disabled in a game. Ive seen some games with lightmaps that look really good for lighting. Better than RT in some circumstances. Shadows as well. To the point I think only reflections are done better with RT.
