What have I gotten myself into!?

From dropping out of high school to being a lawyer? Sorry if I sound like an arse but boy... that escalated quickly.

Good you have great goals though.

Remind me the next time you post one of your amazing relationship threads to be as supportive as you are in this one. :bleh:

Good to see you're sticking at your goals. Hope things go better this time :)

I have no regrets. Made some obscene money as an Immigration Adviser. Made hay while the sun shined. Invested a whole lot in to real estate. Tried to convince my wife that we should retire. Failed. So off to law school I go.

Option 3- You retire, she works .. :bleh:

I never graduated high school. Earned my masters at Carnegie Mellon though, so I guess that makes up for it. These things happen sometimes.

Sorry Deimos, that was real insensitive of me.

Certainly takes a lot of strength for you to make the best out of life. And you certainly made a great living for yourself. Greatly respect that. :)

Finished year 2, half way through year 3. Kill me please. So sick of this pandemic BS, constant back pain, fatigue, uncooperative kids etc. Exams are online, 24 hours, I'm over-thinking and spending 12+ hours on each exam when its supposed to be 3-4 hours tops.

I was invited to do honors, have a 5000 word bibliography to hand in by next week.

6am criminal law lecture tomorrow, headed to bed. Got to stay motivated.

The study material is pretty interesting for the most part but this is definitely the hardest thing I've ever done. Can't quite see the finish line yet.

But you’re doing it. for determination.

I had a college friend that was a working mechanical engineer that went back to school to become a primary care physician.

Our college promoted cross studies. Let's say you get a law degree. Now you are a specialist in technology law. Where other lawyers rely on experts to help them frame their case, you already know the questions to ask.

That isn't to say you can't do other law, but it could help you build your business in setting you apart by being a specialist. Getting there!

Good job homie.

Necro degree more like it. Glad I didn't have to start over.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

The Criminal law moot looks fun, 3 defendants, we have 6 people in each group, 1 defence lawyer and one prosecutor for each defendant.

I'm hoping the last year will be easier, it looks like there are less exams for the higher level papers and your grade is based on your essays instead. That is definitely more my speed.

Gotta respect your determination.

I will go back to study pretty soon... at 40. Wish me luck.

Respect for gettin' it done then. It's pretty rare for people to make it happen at your age, and says alot about the person.

btw, I went back to school in my mid-late 20s. I was 29 when I started grad school, and most of my peers were 23. There were a few late-20s guys, but we had one guy who was 40... WAAAY older than the rest of us. He had about about a decade of professional experience in the field, but had decided to take a break and get his masters. He's now a VP at salesforce, has been there for nearly a decade now... I suspect that his equity is worth tens of millions of dollars now. But yeah, going back to school ended up being a good move for him, even though he was older.

3rd year down, 18 months to go. My grades were OK this year, three A-'s, a B+, B, B- and a C+. This year suuuucked. Criminal Law was just crazy and that ended up being an A-. Next year I'll be reducing my workload a bit which won't make any difference to when I finish. I'll try and get a casual job at a law firm so I have something to put on my CV when I finally become a lawyer.

I was looking forward to having a few months off over x-mas/new years and then I broke a couple of ribs on Monday.
