As of right now, tentatively the RTX 3080 pending whatever performance numbers and pricing AMD has to show in early late October.

Not planning to get anything until right before Cyberpunk is released though, since I don't need to upgrade for any other game at the moment.

Shooting for a 3080 Strix at the moment. I've waited this long though, so will likely see what AMD has before slapping money down.

I'm not convinced Strix is really that quality these days. Bill had to RMA his own card recently. Meanwhile my reference design Asus 2080Ti Dual has been running strong since day 1. Sometimes, FE/Reference is better.

Unless I win the jackpot at the lottery, I’m skipping this generation and sticking to my APU.

RTX 3090 Founders Edition. Literally, it will be ordered before the first minute of it's availability is past.

We're basing this around Bill having to send his card back? I have 2x 1080Ti Strix cards that have been flawless since day 1. Is there additional information out there showing extensive issues with the 2080Ti versions?

but i can't fault their RMA they paid shipping both ways and got a new card back fast
before that it was the same with a 290x dc2 4gb and got back a 390x dc2 8gb, dc2 was the pre runner of the strix

...

as for this i'll wait 49 days for AMD and see

and i'm waiting to see if there is a 20gb 3080

Why it is literally waiting till AMD announces if they **** it up well ill go NV but im chillin till we know for sure.

and you were leaning toward NV for 6+ months before they announced anything :hmm:

Yes because NV didn't release drivers that black screen all the time and their best card isn't a mid range card for the last 5 years. I already said that I require stable drivers for one year before I even consider AMD and even if I did consider them I wouldn't lean toward them for no reason when they havn't even said anything because I'm not a brain dead brand milker. If AMD's most powerful new card goes up against a 3070 then why would you want that? Of the cards announced I'm leaning toward the 3090 because it suits my interest in 50% more performance than a 2080TI with enough VRAM to power my personal projects.

I think I've also said many times that I use IRAY which AMD doesn't have competition for so I'm locked out of AMD products until they start competition in areas that I'm interested in.

i don't remember many black screens on AMD i ever had i know some did but not me
and they have said it is fixed

have had about as few on NV

and most i traced to another program interfering with the driver on both AMD and NV
others on NV i reloaded the same driver and it stopped

95% of people won't trace it out or use a clean boot install to find it so it is always drivers in their minds

Well just so you know, AMD had a massive problem with it as their own driver fixes mention multiple cases of black screen failure and Nvidia never had this problem. Even AMD unboxed who are too dumb to run CPU tests in CPU limited scenario's, had a huge report on AMD's massive Black screen problem and that their cards were returned more than 2X as much as Nvidia's despite selling way less.

I think you mean since turing launched

Actually I bitched and moaned about Nvidia for 3 months after their last launch because it sucked and I refused to buy it. I remember people in the Metro Exodus thread asked me to go to the Nvidia thread if I wanted to bitch more because it was starting to annoy them.

You mean like you're derailing this thread now? :p
