What's next for nVidia after the 2080?

end of next year well after AMD

prices will be the same as the RTX's no matter what AMD's card does

Nvidia plans to do 7nm start Q2 2019 with Ampere too replace Turring.

The 20XX line was just a cash grab because they could.

AMD will be announcing the 7nm Navi alongside Zen 2 but it will more then likely only be an efficiency update, basically Vega but at half the power consumption. Might get to 1080ti performance or close too.

The rumors for the "Ampere" or however you want too call it release from Nvidia is 15% - 20% with 65% - 70% efficiency.

what about the unholy union of the igpu with discreet via dx12  . back to the question - how about volta? i know some of its tech has dribbled into the rtx series of cards, that being the tensor cores. is that technology basically only for scientific research?

Well NV didn't need to release new gaming cards this year but they did have a pile of Quadro dies to salvage.

Volta won't be happening for gaming.

I think the last time NV released a top card in under a year was the 480 to 580 and that was almost 9 months

the 2080 ti will run a year plus if AMD does well with 7nm they will just drop the price a bit

Racing to best buy, about to do something stupid.

1. Dropping your pc off at geek squad for a pc tune up?

2. Going to their home theater section and asking a sales rep for advice on what cables to buy?

3. Picking up one of their Rocketfish power supplies thats rated on the box more than they actually put out?

4. Buying their cheapest laptop and taking up the sales rep offer on their most expensive extended warranty package?

Do tell
