Win 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade weirdness - needed driver reinstall

After upgrading to Windows 8.1 the first thing I noticed was that my display seemed a little darker.

I eventually got around to verifying the display profile I had created a couple months ago and sure enough colors were darker than they should have been.



I had the latest beta drivers from AMD (13.11 beta v1) installed before I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After removing and reinstalling the drivers colors were back where they were supposed to be.



Just wanted to give people that had upgraded to Windows 8.1 a heads up that reinstalling your display drivers is probably a good idea.

Windows 8.1 introduces a new display driver model (WDDM 1.3), meaning you will need to update your drivers to use the new driver model for best effect.

Also make sure you have General Availability Update Rollup 2883200 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2883200/ ) and update rollup 2884846 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2884846/ ).
