Lots of people who run video game stores also recommend the Gamecube due to its games like that Star Wars game and other cool games.

sony didn't get into the market because of the money. Back in the SNES days Nintendo didn't have the capibility to build a CD rom system for the SNES(the one we all waited for). So nintendo went to sony to build it. Nintendo then dropped out on sony and sony finished it and made it into a full system. AKA the Playstation.

The PlayStation actually started in 1990 as, you guessed it, a CD add-on for the SNES. Later Nintendo abandons it after Sony completed a prototype, and decides to work with Philips and their CD-i. Later Sony got pissed and released the "real" PlayStation.

They were gonna release it to compete with the Sega CD, which was a flop of a system.
good hting too, otherwise Nintento would be stuck with a flop item too.
Anyways its like the 64DD add-on that was also a flop. But since it was required in japan to boost sales, it never came down here.
Still it wasnt a very popular thing to begin with.
Since the Nintendo CD system was basically Sony's, Nintendo could be said to have put Sony into this market.

lol sony bah, see how that shiny new ps2 does when gamecube and xbox rolls around, sega is making games for ps2, he was just giving his honest opinion on which system is better, and sega will deffinantly have a huge impact on the software market so whoever it favors making its games for will gain bigtime from it, i will buy any system i think is good no matter who makes it and so far sony hasnt showed my sh*t on the ps2, the graphics are bareley better then dreamcast, if any at all( a much older system then ps2) and no fakking way i would buy that crap to watch a dvd on, i think nintendo will deliver as always, and sega making games for the cube, wow, what a combination
