Apple event

Upgraded to the 14 Pro Max 256GB on Friday and spent the last couple days migrating stuff over. Coming from a 12 Pro Max so the upgrade is mostly cameras, higher refresh rate and brighter screen, etc. I’m happy with the upgrade so far.

I have an Apple Watch Series 6, and the AirPod Pros (1st gen), and not sure I’m upgrading to either of the new versions of those. AirPods maybe. Definitely tempted by that M2 MacBook Air. :bleh2:

picked up the watch series 8 friday brighter screen out in the sun is nice

i need to take my first 1st gen back before the end of the month left one is getting distortion on very highs and lows

iPhone 14 Pro Camera Shaking and Vibrating in Third-Party Apps for Some Users

iPhone 14 Pro Camera Shaking and Vibrating in Third-Party Apps for Some Users

Has anyone here had this problem (not that I would recommend testing it)? If you have not purchased an iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max already, it might be wise to hold off until the extent of this issue is known.

Here is a brief video demonstration.

Following the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, some early adopters of the devices have noticed that the rear camera's main lens vibrates uncontrollably when the camera is opened in apps such as Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram, resulting in shaky video. The issue does not appear to affect the built-in Camera app.

iPhone 14 Pro Rear Camera
The issue has been reported by users across Twitter, Reddit, TikTok, and the MacRumors Forums since the iPhone 14 Pro models launched on Friday, but it is unclear how widespread the problem is or what the underlying cause is. The main lens on iPhone 14 Pro models features "second-generation" sensor-shift optical image stabilization, and it is possible that the stabilizer is acting up due to a software bug, but this is merely speculation.

YouTuber Luke Miani said he experienced the issue on one of the iPhone 14 Pro Max units that he was testing. Miani shared a video of the issue that shows the main lens on the device vibrating uncontrollably, and he said the incident resulted in the lens being unable to focus properly in subsequent usage, even in the Camera app. Miani said that he took the iPhone to an Apple Store and was able to exchange the device for a new one.

Until the matter is resolved, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners should avoid opening the camera in apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram if they are concerned about potential damage to the rear camera system. We will share any additional information about this issue, including any response from Apple, as it becomes available.

I haven't encountered that at all but then I only ever find myself using the built-in camera app. But then, I don't actually use Snapchat or TikTok or Instagram so I guess I'm good to go?

You might end up being entitled to a free repair or replacement phone regardless. It depends on whether there is a hardware defect.

Could be software related causing the camera to wig out, so maybe an update from the affected software will fix it.

That would be very.. not Apple-like.. if it's a hardware issue.

I hope so, and I hope that no one’s phones got damaged.

Hardware issues with Apple products aren’t unprecedented. One example would be the “butterfly” keyboards that they put into MacBooks for years. See here.

Speakers are way better too. Clearer, louder, more full and bass.

The screen is loads better then the 12 pro. I felt the 12 always had a bit of dingy look to it.

I've yet to take a picture but I have to imagine video and pics will be better.

I'm contemplating on this. Actually with the 14 PM purchase I get a $150 credit plus towards a watch and a $180 credit for turning in my 6. Almost seems like a no brainer.

There's just not much to upgrade to. I was really hoping there would have been blood pressure monitoring this go around.

Agreed. This phone sounds better, has a better screen (both in terms of refresh rate and smoothness, as well as brightness outdoors, and in clarity and color), and I can confirm the pictures come out pretty good looking.

Apple has acknowledged the issue and says they're working on what appears to be a software side patch for this.

if they would have gone usb c i would have bought day one

i may still

but i hate the lightning port:bleh:

I dont use any of the listed apps for that camera issue, but it sounds pretty gnarly  I bet Apple has a fix within a day for it.

I can actually type/swipe on this way easier also.
I’m not sure if it’s because the keyboard is bigger, iOS 16,
or the hardware is more sensitive. it’s so accurate now.
I’d literally would have to edit my 12pro sentence’s 2-4 times just to make
it look like I’m not a reject. Lol

The other thing is talk to text. Again I’m not sure if it’s iOS 16
or just better hardware. Maybe the mic, i don’t know?
I wouldn’t even use it on the 12 pro it was so bad.

Just traded in the watch 6 for 8 lol.
Think total i had $320 in credits.
I almost got the ultra but it’s back ordered till December.
The battery life was the main reason for considering
the ultra.

Contemplating this as well. What spec were you looking at?

Right now I'm torn between that 13" M2 MacBook Air and the 13" MacBook Pro with the M2 chip. They're around the same price $1200-1300 ish range, and a decent "small size" machine with great battery life and stuff. I don't need anything bigger, and would use external monitors for any "work" scenarios.

I think the Pro has better thermal performance under sustained use, so I'm leaning that way.

M2 Pro does have better sustained performance because it has a fan and wont throttle as fast.

Did you take into consideration that you need to upgrade the M2 Air and M2 13 to 512GB HD to get the fast HDs? Speeds are halved for the 256GB version.

I dont anticipate doing long heavy work loads on the mac so I am not really considering the 13 Pro M2. However, I would want 16gb and 512GB(for the fast speeds) and that brings it to somewhere around 1600 bucks. But then if I am going to spend that much money Im within shooting distance of the Base 14 MacBook Pro which murders them both and has a better screen.

Apple very carefully plots their pricing to get people to go up models. Bastards. I may end up with the M2 Air with 16gb and 512gb and just deal with it.
