Apple thread

The space race for faster wireless service isn’t needed on phones unless it’s your primary source of internet. New technology usually rolls out in big cities where if isn’t needed as much. They should roll it out in rural areas first.

Not sure if i agree with this. Congestion and dropped calls can be a major problem in big cities, which 5G aims to solve.

Faster internet speeds dont make your connection better to a cell tower. I live in LA and I cant remember the last time I dropped a call that wasnt caused by being in a building.

5G high band spectrum will actually make it worse in terms of connection. High band spectrum has a high bandwidth limit but is actually not that great at building penetration.

5G will help iron out these hourly peaks and valleys, as it will provide a solid bedrock of capacity that will relieve congestion during the busiest hours...
While the attention on 5G centres on boosted speeds, it’s benefits to consistency could be far more important...
We saw much bigger hourly fluctuations in download speed in big global cities than in their respective counties.

This happens everywhere on the planet, in every city, especially larger ones such as LA, whether you were aware of that or not.

4G in my city is great to a point as well, but it has its limitations, and once I switched over to a 5G phone, not only did my speeds improve, but so too has my coverage. Even more importantly, I am now getting consistently fast performance throughout all hours of the day -- there were times when 4G felt like 3G, but no longer plagued by those concerns.

Fluctuations in speed, not connection. Youre not going to get less dropped calls with 5g. Faster download speeds yes - less dropped calls no.

You either got connection to a tower or you dont. Thats why 5g should be rolled out to rural areas first where the speeds are needed. Where you cant get broadband cause you live out in the woods.

In the heart of NYC you have a better connection and less chance of a dropped call than you do in a smaller urban city. I’ve never had a dropped call in NY, only in upstate NY out in the boonies or in NJ on a military installation where all the radar and masking **** they run messes with cell tower reception.

I don’t see how 5G will make connection to the tower better. It will make the speed of that connection faster, however typically the faster the connection, the weaker it is over a distance.

i'm liking Carplay wired or wireless is better than android auto now

even google maps better on carplay and on my phone on the bike
works more like garmin car centered on map and map moves down instead of sideways like on my note 8

wired or wireless restarts music faster after a stop and turning off truck with no input

……

I was freaked out today when my ipad started ringing
I turned that sh*t off

I turned that sh*t off

I've had my phone, ipad, and mac go ringing on me all at once before but ever since iOS dropped support for my ipad it's just been the other two. Since I only use my ipad for games and light browsing when its stormy outside I don't plan on upgrading that til the battery really goes south. Even with fairly light use I do have to charge it once a day, maybe in another year or two when the battery only lasts half a day...

It's actually sorta annoying as they all have different ring tones, does the watch have it's own default as well?

I like being able to answer my phone from my watch, Macbook Pro or iPad.

I turn all that off. Only my phone should ring.

I dont have an apple watch(cant see a use for it) but my wife loves hers seeing and answering phone calls.

makes me feel like Quasimodo "the bells the bells"

don't have the watch and it might be nice to answer my phone from the watch
but have not worn a watch in years since I arced a sanyo in a 240 volt electrical pane l:eek:

I was always to hard on watches anyway and everything has a clock in it now

Worth boning a Pro vs the regular 11? I already got my wife an 11 but was wondering if I should go Pro or 11. Coming from an iPhone 7 lol.

how much storage do you need ?
do you need the third zoom ?

I went with the non pro 11 256gb 850 US is high enough and 300 more for the camera third zoom is nuts

but then I don't need the fancy zoom for jobsite photos and i have a nice dslr
