Dawn Sleeps With ATI - Radeon R3x0 Dawn OpenGL Wrapper

Dawn and x1800 AAA

Dawn and x1800 AAA

WoW!!!

Found the Dawn demo on the drive while cleaning up and decided to give it a try on my x1800XL at Ultra, AAA, 4x AAA, AF, . . .

The wrapper (and madshi wrapper-wrapper) works great and the IQ is breathtaking even in 2005.

it is kind of ironic that Radeons can run the Dawn demo while some ppl can't run it with their FX cards.

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=12305

and there are some ppls able to running Dawn demo with their FX cards...but ATI pwned Dawn demo and this thread been has 23 pages than Nvnews thread 2 pages...how nvidiot fan.

And X1800XT or X1800XT PE will able to running on Dawn Demo in Ultra mode w/ highest resolution with maximum AA/AF?

Ah just found Madshi thread on removing the atigl.dll or whatever its called. Works fine now!

And yes, there should be a note on the main page about x800 users!

It works fine for me with 5.13, too.

Make sure you do *NOT* have the Cat 3.5 OGL driver in the dawn\bin folder. That never worked for X cards.

I am using the X850xtpe, Ill reinstall and retry again. Ill edit back if it works.

EDIT: Fixed, it works again!

This is wicked... why don't games make use of this technology? Looks a whole hell of a lot better like this than with some cheap looking 5 o'clock shadow bump mapping to mask the lack of imperfections on the skin.

Anyone can create perfection, but to recreate the imperfection of the human body is the ultimate in computer graphics technology...and to think it can run in real time on these cards now is just jaw dropping. Props to ATI and nVidia (and of course the late 3dfx and Matrox), for the market would not be where it is today without them all.

Glad to see someone else appreciates the accomplishments of this demo. In terms of character realism (skin texture, tone, shading, highlights, the fact that it all becomes more detailed the closer you get without any loss of realism; accuracy of animation, facial expressions, etc., etc., all running in real time...anyone who's spent any time with this demo on a system that can run it smoothly has to appreciate it. Maybe the graphics techniques just don't scale well to multiple characters in a game engine environment?

Anybody?

A friend of mine tested the demo on his X1800XT and he got an error (normal windows error, no relation to missing parameters or nv_stuff).

Can you test Dawn demo, SS?
Just to see if it crashes.

It did with my X800, so i guess it will with my card also. 9600/9800s have no problem. Its kinda been abandoned. I just hope someone does a Luna wrapper
