finally back to the top 100

Me, firing everything back up with new hardware: "Ha! I'm coming for you...{scrolls up list and sees overall points totals}"

"Uhhh...Never mind..."

Seriously, i'm only just coming up for my first 1mil, how many computers are you running?!?

3x - Intel i7 8700 w Quadro P2000 (CPU + GPU)
1x - Intel i5 8400 (CPU only)
1x - Intel i7 6700 w GeForce GT 1030 (CPU + GPU)
1x - Intel i7 6700 (CPU only)

The more you know....

Thanks for the link and the info.

I found out on this forum as well, but I'd only been folding for a week or so.

I've been watching your stats since, expecting to see a huge jump in points. You've barely folded? What gives? :(

When I first passed you I had a real sense that you were going to try to catch up and overtake. We were close for a while, but then you dropped back. I recognize that this was all in my head - but also recognize that it could be real. ()

Had to go to work on site this morning. Left the house at 7:20 and had a crash at 8:04. Didn't get home until 5. My average dropped 80k today.

This one and two others in the last week happened at the "cleaning up" phase of finishing a work unit. Luckily I still get the points for those, and mostly the other WU being worked on recovers. In a strange 'makes sense to me but probably not anyone else' move, I uninstalled the work folder from my SSD and reinstalled onto my platter drive. Crossing my fingers for more stability. This **** is driving me nuts.

ALSO: I hereby give Jima13 an enthusiastic e-High Five for reaching an average 5.5M points per day. I probably don't want to know how you're doing it, but it's carrying the team nicely.

Anybody getting a bunch of 13409 WUs? These things are bringing my average way down. It takes about 1.25 hours and nets maybe 18k points, and PPD drops from 1.2M to 225k. Looking at my log I got six of these overnight. I might have to select other research paths until this project is over.

With this project, my GPU stays at about 65W when I'm used to 205 - 220W.

Now that you mention it, I've seen a bunch of these coming by too. Wondering why my points slowed down even after adding a CPU slot.

For me it's the opposite, I get around 75-85K ppd on other work units but the 13409 take me a few minutes less than 2 hours to complete for 10K points. That means 120K ppd which are by far the best WU for my system.

^Similar stories are happening at the Folding Forum. Hopefully next batch will be better optimized for heavier GPUs... and we can finish these in like 12 minutes.

At some point we hit 500k average PPD. Again, most teams have 180k (ish).

Captured this just now. I missed the big capture earlier.

This Project 13409 wreak havok on my Fury X they are more likely to fail than complete. I'm running the latest 20.5.1 driver. The FAH client fails and restarts but actually seems to be causing Wattman to fail.
It's not to unusual to waking up in the morning to 3 instances of Radeon Software showing. 2 dead and disappear once hovered indicating crashes over the remaining one usually is frozen and has to be killed by using the Task Manager.
Once it re-spawns it's interact-able once more. I already tried a clean install not sure if going back to the 20.4.2 will help here or not.

Something new with the 20.5.1 drivers is when my PC crashes and start it back up, Radeon Software does not crash (before, I saw the icon on taskbar, but when hovering over it, would disappear. Then start it up manually). I then get a notification that settings have been set to default (even when I didn't change them).

For this project I've had a single faulty return, and I think it was a legit bad work unit. I've only had two non-13409 WUs in the last 24 hours. It's tanking my points but at least there's no crashes.

To add to that, none of my CPU WUs seem to be crediting since 12 hours ago, despite my logs saying otherwise.

I don’t recall the specific WUs involved, but there are some where I’m seeing an estimated 850k PPD and others around 600-650k. This is on a 1660 Super.

My GPU was averaging 1.8M PPD while folding this one. I want more of these. Makes up for that rash of 13409s I got @ 250k PPD the last seven days.

Been able to run for the last couple of days. Weather has improved so the temperature has been better for Max computing. Also bought an Arctic Freezer 34 duo fan for my Ryzen CPU. Temp went down by 10 degrees C. Bonus.

Seeing all the active folders brings me back to the good ol days like a decade+ ago

With summer heat being a factor for many of y'all, the 1650 Super is an option for a low energy GPU with good PPD . I built a rig with this card last month hoping for maybe 400k PPD with under 100W on the GPU power draw, and at stock it does around that. But the RAM OC is insane, I boosted up to around 550K PPD with only an extra 8-10W power consumption on average (total power draw from the card is around 85-90W on average).

Traditionally I have never seen much benefit from OCing memory for folding, but the 1650 super really eats it up. I had enough spare parts laying around that the GPU itself was the bulk of the purchase. Running it with an old Ryzen 1600 I had laying around.

Fold on y'all!

If you can spend a few bucks more, the 1660 Super (in my experience) gets almost 800k ppd with just a little more power consumption, showing a 106W avg.

Anyone else using the advanced GPU client flag? I avoided it until yesterday thinking it would make my system even less stable with beta WUs but that isn't the case. In fact, last update I broke my daily point record... and there's still six hours left in the day. PPD is 1.8M for many of the beta WUs, and it looks like they've all finished successfully. GPU is downclocked -7% and pulling about 215 - 240W; system overall around 350W. I still have my laptop folding @ 400k PPD but I need to retire it before it melts.

How does one do this?

Also, getting close to being in the top 50 on Team 64. Not bad for a few months. :)

A 16444 WU crashed my PC when I was on my way to work at 6:30 this morning. :( Very few points for me today. Luckily I had yesterday and hope to have a few more days like it.

I’ve been using the advanced flag on mine since there was the WU shortage a couple months ago. It was one way to increase my chances of actually getting a WU assignment. Could be why I see some WUs getting 800k PPD and some getting like 650k. Or I could be totally wrong, I really have no idea.

My excitement for higher PPD with the advanced units is dashed. I keep getting the non-advanced 134XX project @ ~250k PPD... netting about 13k per WU, and getting through it in about 1 hour, 15 minutes. Yesterday it was exclusively that project on both my machines.

WU count is up.

Points acquired down.

Gregor is going to catch back up to me. :(

For me some of the 134xx WUs are great, up to 140k ppd vs 80k ppd normally.
But others are only bringing 40k ppd.
So far I’ve been getting more of the 140k ppd WUs. Hopefully it stays that way!
