Galaxy Note 9

I just ordered my Note 9. Samsung sent me a promotional email so I'll get $600 trade-in value for my S9+, plus $100 off from Verizon. That makes the Note 9 128Gb version $299 total after trade-in. Not too shabby. I loved the S-Pen on my old Note 3 so that's the main reason why I'm up(cross)-grading.

That makes for a nice deal. I would do it if I could get something like that. Enjoy :)

So been playing with Linux on Dex. It's crazy to use desktop Ubuntu on a phone.
Got my development programs up and running with no issues, pulled in an compiled a project from work almost as fast as my i7 laptop with 16GB Ram...
(Small project, but still!)

Truly impressive.
Haven't played with Dex, does it run Desktop Ubuntu by default when you dock the phone, or do you have to hack it on there, or ... ?

I'm in the Linux on Dex beta.
By default, it's an android desktop experience. You have to install Linux on a partition of the hard drive space. (I allocated 20gigs for it, more than enough)

Edit: Also, end of work day, and 75% battery. I love it!

Gotchya, thanks for the info.

At this point, everyone on the Note 9 is on Pie. (Verizon in the US just got it yesterday, last carrier in the nation, and possibly the world)
So far, liking the changes. Fixed many annoyances, and battery life has been solid unlike some updates.

Still usually charge every other day, which still kinda blows my mind.

Yeah I'm on Verizon with an unlocked phone and it took forever to get Pie. So far so good, battery seems improved and things are a bit snappier. I like the changes and still love the Note 9.

Verizon is always last. It's because they have to add their bloatware and disable a bunch of stuff they feel that users shouldn't have access to.. Example, is the hidden or secret settings you can get to by entering certain numbers in the phone keypad. (I learned this when I tried to access the hidden settings for bluetooth).

@ NWR.
For me, the Verizon bloat was minimal, they added a couple useless apps, which I could actually uninstall (Not disable, Uninstall!) and....
that's it.

They used to be MUCH worse, but this actually feels more like they waited for Samsung to release the unlocked final Pie version, and include the March security patch.
