Galaxy Note 9

I've found myself charging every other day lately.
Like, afternoon of Monday then mid day Wednesday.
quite the jump from twice a day on my note 5. Especially since my usage is unchanged, except that I've increased brightness from minimum to mid level (and occasionally have to turn it down because it's too bright)

I see your using the lower resolution mode. Have you ever run the phone at the full QHD mode and see how much of a hit it takes? I was just watching some videos and using the full QHD mode it takes quite a bit on the battery life. I dont think I could buy a phone and not use it to its full potential and specs. Thats like buying a 4k monitor and running it at 1440 or 1080p.

It most likely comes default that way, just as the note 8 does. I never new that till i went digging into all the setrings one day, so he may not even be aware that it is running a lower resolution.

I think it is set to the lower resolution by default by Samsung for good reason(battery life apparently)

Id like to know now that hes been on the lower resolution since hes gotten the phone would he prefer the better resolution and lower battery life or keep the lower resolution and better battery life.

I don't see a point in going any higher than the default on a 6 inch screen. Any "improvement" in quality is not worth the battery, and it's stupid IMO. Not really similar to a monitor scenario where the screen is many times bigger and it might actually be noticeable.

I am in agreement with you. As to why i leave mine on default as well.

I think Samsung default resolution is to reduce premature pixel burn-ins. It something to do with the green-pixels.:bleh:

You won't notice the improvement with the higher resolution. There is a slight sharpness improvement in texts. It's hard to tell unless you compare it side by side. Use it if you're a purist and want to enjoy all texts slowly in the book you're reading.

I've used both and and default 1080.
Really you dont see the difference outside of 4k video (if you are really looking for it). If you do any vr stuff, then you really want it. Otherwise...not much of a difference.

Battery wise, not a huge impact, maybe 10% a day.

Yep, everything I saw said there was minimal battery impact too so mot sure where he got that from.

It's the best phone I've ever used hands down. Not sure I'd go from an S8 to it though given the price, but from my S7 Edge it's a huge difference. The battery is amazing, the camera is great, the speakers sound great, screen is awesome as usual, and there is zero lag on it. I leave tons of apps open and it never sputters.

Also, clarification on the above with my camera issue: It's not the same issue as the freezing people report. I haven't experience that issue at all.

The size of the phone hasn't been awkward for you at all to get used to?

A little in my jeans pocket, but in the hand not at all. My S7 feels dumb now when I hold it.
Thank you for the feedback. I think this might be my next phone. It looks like it has everything I could want in a CPU, battery life, and camera which is what I'm mostly interested in.

I just ordered my Note 9. Samsung sent me a promotional email so I'll get $600 trade-in value for my S9+, plus $100 off from Verizon. That makes the Note 9 128Gb version $299 total after trade-in. Not too shabby. I loved the S-Pen on my old Note 3 so that's the main reason why I'm up(cross)-grading.
