I sold my soul

Well yeh could have grabbed a 1080tI for less money with the same results..

LOL

I went full retard.. 5850 3-way to 580 SLI and it was glorious... both IQ and performance..

no one was selling 1080ti's here aside from used ones, that ship sailed a few months ago

Given the choice between a 1080Ti and 2080, a 2080 will be a better value because it's basically a faster 1080Ti with RTX.

Depending on price situation it may not be the best option. With some RTX options coming to 1080ti it may be a better option money wise to get a 1080ti at a lower price and get some rtx options.

With that said, if I was upgrading it would definitely be 2080ti only. The jump to 2080 is basically nothing and RTX isnt compelling enough for me to just lateral for RTX. I am waiting for more games to proves RTXs worth. A new monitor with a higher resolution(a bigger 21:9) would force me to upgrade but I am not planning on doing that this year with other life things happening.

What do you mean other things in life? Wtf?

2080 will be the better option most of the time today. That is because there's no new 1080Ti's being sold, and used 1080Ti's may or may not have been used for mining. Some sellers try to be sneaky about that. Mechanical parts like fans do get worn out over time.

Video cards have been sold second hand for decades now lets not pretend that fans will start going kaput now at some higher rate on used cards.

Mining thing could be a concern you just got to find someone whos somewhat trustworthy. Just when buying anything secondhand you got to do your due diligence.

mining was big with the 1080 ti and that would make me pass on any used

but I have seen way too many infested houses and apartments to ever buy any used electronics ever .

If the price was right I would have bit on a used 1080ti, I’d be saving around 150 so that’s not worth it to me.

Yeah I got a used 2080 for 650 shipped with 3 year warranty through amazon. Works perfectly no problem.

finally got it installed and working. Almost returned it cause i was getting random blue screens all over the place and games wouldnt work. Turned out i have an unstable overclock

How you liking them apples?

so far it seems to be pretty good, havent really done much gaming aside from a couple benchmark runs of dx:mankind, witcher 3 and prey. Very nice speed increase but considering the blow to the wallet it dampens my enthusiasm a bit. Ive spent more time getting the home theatre setup than gaming

my freesync display appears to be working properly despite the nv control panel saying its not a validated model

Welcome to 2017 performance. I guess the RTX effects would be worth the price of admission. I strongly suggest a 6 core CPU as well. Might be worth indulging instead of some weed :D.

Regardless of what someone was trying to say here about the 2080 being that much better then the 1080 Ti just isn't true. I will definitely be waiting for the next video card from NV in probably a year before upgrading the 1080 Ti. The next upgrade will hopefully be a Ryzen 3000 series CPU which hopefully doesn't disappoint.
