I sold my soul

Regardless of what someone was trying to say here about the 2080 being that much better then the 1080 Ti just isn't true.

What was said is that since no new 1080Tis are sold a new 2080 with added RTX is the way to go today.

Sorry I was speaking of a different thread that was making out like you should just side grade to a 2080 because it is so much better then the 1080 Ti, it really isn't and not worth any extra money in my opinion.

Regardless of what someone was trying to say here about the 2080 being that much better then the 1080 Ti just isn't true. I will definitely be waiting for the next video card from NV in probably a year before upgrading the 1080 Ti. The next upgrade will hopefully be a Ryzen 3000 series CPU which hopefully doesn't disappoint.

it will :bleh:
it won't be anywhere close to a 2080 ti

Navi is not the card we are looking for

"next-gen" next year maybe or 2021

kac does have a point tho. Its essentially 2017 performance at the same price with rtx effects(if i recall custom 1080s were around the $950cdn range as well)

from a bang per buck or value perspective, this is the worst card ive bought in my entire life

ya next upgrade is most likely a threadripper 16c cpu

also if my comment on me giving up weed if bill would give up his guns wasnt clear enough....

ill give it up if you convert to a catholic and kiss the pope's ring and eat a big, greasy cdn style bacon sandwich

I'll play division 2 in RL first :p

……

and the ryzen 3850 x will be cheaper for 16c/32t

Agreed, not as a side upgrade, at least not yet as only a handful of games have RT effects.

I paid $799.99 for my 1080Ti brand new in 2017.

Or maybe you are too hung up on the past still trying to enjoy 2016 level performance. Nothing to do with being a shill.

It's okay, I enjoy playing video games whenever I have the time on hardware that suits me.2016 level performance and 1080p gaming is what I do, it's what most gamers do....

I also have an 11 year hatred for Nvidia.

I'm honest enough not to pretend to be neutral.

Nvidia can go suck it.

Thanks for your apparent concern though.

They're all faceless corporations. That said I would rather give Nvidia and amd my money than Intel...

Now that AMD are back in the game with Processors they will get my money for my next one.

Nvidia have a long way to go before they get my money if they ever get it.

Not that it matters to Nvidia.

And bought a 2080 today

I bought a 2080 in Friday. It was an upgrade from a 1070.

Indeed. I purchased ATI/AMD cards when I thought they presented the best experience and I purchased NVIDIA cards when I thought they would. Hatred or extreme brand loyalty is wierd to me. I have also have alternated between AMD and Intel CPU's when appropriate.

nVidia has indicated they will be able to cut their inventory backlog to normal levels soon.
My hope is that to do that they will release a, non RTX, turing card with performance between RTX2080 and RTX2080TI @$600

But why? Why would people not want RTX features? I can understand for the low to mid end (like the 1660) but if you are going to even spend 600 on a card wouldn't you want that capability?

I've been playing Metro Exodus and I love the benefits it brings to lighting. BFV reflections are pretty good too (and performance is decent with the latest patch).

What you suggest is like buying a fancy high end car but with no options/crank windows.
