Is anyone happy with their PS2?

NYHecK

Bad motha-shut yo mouth!?
All these talks about the gamecube and xbox being so good hasent changed my mind about PS2 being such a great system. Anyone else agree?

so so, i play it about every weeks snice my friend got one, but i wouldnt buy it, not yet.

im waiting for their price drop, and of course, mgs2, ffx, dmc etc etc. I dont consider getting one till spring 2002.

I havnt been blow away by it. There have been some decent games but nothing spectacular yet. I wondering if I should sell it on ebay.

I'm over the moon with mine! Think its great - i could've waited for XBox/GC but i bought it in Nov '00 so will have had a years fun whilst waiting :)

The initial launch titles were a little dissapointing, but since Xmas some games have really excelled themselves.

And DVD is always a nice bonus...

I rented one last week from a local video game store, and I'm not satisfied because: the blurry graphics gave me an eyesore. :(

and you tried it using composite input right

I am using S-video, and it looks great. The graphics arent so wonderful to me since I have a computer. That is probably why evryone else isnt so impressed. You have Radeons. If any of you didnt have computers, The graphics on the PS2 would look great.

I haven't bought one yet...but I am definatly going to rent one when GT3 comes out! And if it's cool then I'm probably gonna buy one just for that game! Just like I bought the PS1 only for GT1! GT1 and GT2 are still the only games I have on the PS1!!!

Yea, that is one game that I will definetly buy. Too bad they do not have a racing game that good on the pc.

toy187,

Ditto :) Thats exactly what I am waiting for on the PS2 before I make my mind up on whether I want one or I dont.. Gran Turismo 2 OWNS me :)

problem with the PS2 is it's hard to program for. nintendo made that mistake with the N64 and it took quite a while for good games to come out because it was so hard to program for. Nintendo didn't make that mistake twice. Neither did X-box. PS2 also used a dual processor configuration which made it even harder to controll the process in a game. the PS2 is a very capible machine. but once the X-box and Game cube come out I don't see it's title library increasing as fast. JMHO but I forsee the PS2 going the way of the dreamcast or a PS3 withing 3 to 4 years with all the problems of it solved.

I'm happy with mine.... It does need a lot more QUALITY games, though. There's too many games out for it that are piles of crappola. Can't wait for GT3, been on pre-order since March.... now that game looks incredible. I still remember when GT2 used to occupy 5 hours of my day.... every day.

Since I deceided to drop my PC as a gaming platform, and went over to the PS2, so far the games have been excelent.

The most fun I've ever had with a piece of hardware :p

Do your social life a favour.. go out and buy the following:-

PS2
SSX
NBA 2001
Midnight Run
DOA2
+loads more

Then get a keg of your fave brew, a few mates around, and thrash those joypads..

Oh and a word or caution. playing SSX whilst under the influence of alcohol, and sitting on the are of a chair can be haza(douse):D to your health.

Dual Proccessors?!?

Dual Proccessors?!?

HOW I didnt know they used dual processors, oh wait your talking about the Vector Units VU0, VU1. The machine has a great amount of potential, much like every machine in the past and future. Is it hard to program for?? Yeah I guess, but isnt everything!! If you read a lot of information about it you see it has a learning curve, but most "GOOD" developers catch on pretty quick and make good software out of it.

The question remains on how much easier is the X-box and GameCube to program for? All depends on the developers! Of course X-box is going to be easy to program for if games are being made by companys with PC programming experience. Games like Abes world is where it is because they didnt have to do a major part of the programing. THEY LICENSED the most critical part of any game, THE ENGINE!

Gamecube on the other hand is making developing games for thier machine almost too easy!! What I mean is, they are allowing the developers to become lazy!! Sure you might think it allows for more time putting creative content into the game. However if the company just wants to make a quick buck why bother!?!?

What I forsee happening is the PS3 will remain a lot like the PS2. They will increase the Ram, and CPU speed along with the Graphics chip. The major advantage will be a higher amount of V-ram! If programmers can do GT3 and MGS2 with just a mesely 4mb of Vram what could they do with 16mb of Vram and a faster GPU??

Thats what I look at. Xbox and Gamecube on a hardware standpoint should destroy the PS2. Yet I havent seen a game by either of the two that come close to realism like GT3, or gorgeous like MGS2!

Xbox will be the next Dreamcast. Its already taking the path the Dreamcast did and its not even out yet!!

Im going to buy another machine to go along with my PS2, what machine do you think others like me are going to buy?!? The Xbox, which to me is too faulty and lacking enough support, or the Gamecube who is finally taking a somewhat aggressive approach to gaming?

Tell you what, only one black box is going to sit next to my beloved PS2, the other mine as well be purple, green or gold for all I care!

I think not! This will help developers to translate a game from ps2 to GC in les thst a mounth!
